Just saw this on the site:
"In order to request delivery of certain card items, we will require billing information to cover the cost of shipping and handling."

So does this mean some of the cheap common cards will be shipped for free?

Just hit Modells near Grand Central Station, bought 11 packs.

Got one auto, one relic and 3 redemptions:

1998 Oswalt, one card I can't remember and a 1958 Enos Slaughter!

Not bad - AND Country is on the Yankees!

No, it means the "Prize cards" will be shipped at Topps expense via certified method of delivery. Now, nowhere do I see a list of "prize baseball cards (there are 2000 of them), but I would imagine a 1998 Topps Frank Thomas isn't going to cut it, whereas a 54 Hank Aaron probably will. I have requested a list of them, but I am not too optimistic that I will receive one. I will post it if I do!

FOR MOST BASEBALL CARDS AVAILABLE IN THE GIVEAWAY (I.E., NON-PRIZE BASEBALL CARDS), IN ORDER TO TAKE POSSESSION OF THE BASEBALL CARDS, YOU MUST PAY A SHIPPING AND HANDLING FEE OF $2.92 (USD) FOR THE FIRST BASEBALL CARD AND $0.53 (USD) FOR EACH ADDITIONAL BASEBALL CARD. THIS PAYMENT IS ONLY REQUIRED IF BASEBALL CARD IS NOT IDENTIFIED BY SPONSOR AS A “PRIZE BASEBALL CARD." IN ADDITION, THIS PAYMENT DOES NOT APPLY TO THE RANDOM DRAWING PRIZE. Non-prize baseball cards will be shipped via U.S. Postal Service as first class mail, unless an individual specifically requests shipment via certified delivery method. Fees for shipment via certified delivery method will vary depending on location of user. Sponsor will ship Prize Baseball Cards and Random Drawing Prize via certified delivery method. Shipments of non-prize baseball cards and Prize Baseball Cards (or Random Drawing Prize) may only be combined at the sole discretion of Sponsor.

3. Prizes/Odds. (2000) Prize Baseball Cards are available to be won. Odds of obtaining a Prize Baseball Card depend on a variety of factors including the number of Codes inputted and when a particular Code is inputted. The total approximate retail value of all Prize Baseball Cards is $162,190.00 (USD). (1) Random Drawing Prize -- 1952 Mickey Mantle Baseball Card. Odds of winning Random Drawing Prize depend on the total number of eligible entries received. Approximate retail value is $15,000.00 (USD). TOTAL APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE OF ALL PRIZES: $177,190.00.

Also noticed a lot of talk about buy backs. My understanding from reading the site is that all the cards are from Topps Vault. There are no buy backs, but rather cards they already have in their possession. It makes sense to me. I'd imagine they kept several copies of everything they ever produced.

I hope this is the case. If they did, the vintage would probably be in GREAT shape!

Yeah, I would imagine they would be in phenomenal shape. However, I did just see right on the main site page they say "these cards are originals. We bought back the originals cards!" - but in the official rules they say they are all originals from the Topps Vault, so I guess they bought some stuff back and put it in the vault. Would have been cool if they had uncut sheets from 1952 that the diced up and released for this! haha.

NOT the case. I worked at Topps for almost two years, and they do not have even close to every card that they have produced, much less multiple copies.

These are buybacks.

My understanding is that they at least at one time had two copies of all cards. For a long while the vault was selling 'file copy' cards. Topps used to take two copies of a card, and glue (!*#@?) one front and one back to a picture album.

That is true, I went through many of those albums that had cards glued in them. I certainly noticed that most of the cards of value, and many of little value, were no longer there. And those that were there were SERIOUSLY glued, so much so that you guys would be pissed receiving them for this promotion.

I assure you that these are buybacks.

Yes, I had posted later that I noticed on the main page they say they are buybacks. I also just read an article in the NY times that details out how Topps bought large quantities from several dealers, even talking to one of the dealers in FL that they bought a bunch off of.

So condition will probably not be so hot on these vintage cards.

Grabbed a Target blaster - I like the retro backs. Can't imagine building that set though! One redemption yielded this to go along with my 1957:
