As one who literally used to be out there in the bleachers in Wrigley working to prevent these things from happening, since the fans are so close to the field its hard to prevent this type of stuff. Back when I worked for the team we instituted a plan to have security at the bottom row of bleachers down on the wall. It usually works well and prevents people from doing something stupid like this. We did have the occasional drunk that would think it was cool to give an outfielder a bath, but for the most part all of the fans thought it was just wrong to do this. Believe me, this is not a typical Chicago baseball fan. The bleachers have grown to be nothing more than a huge beer garden where people are there to be seen and not see the ball game. The security measures have been tightened up even more over the years so this is unusual for the most part.

I talked with a few guys I know that still work there and they have see great security video on the guy and are working with the CPD to make sure he is caught. Chicago media is making a huge deal out of this and putting the guys face all over the newspapers and TV. He will be caught and prosecuted. I honestly dont remember but this might be a felony because of the statutes now in place in Chicago. I could be wrong

I just hope Philly fans dont think this guy is indicative of Chicago fans. This guy was just a drunk a-hole who hopefully will get whats coming to him.
This is exactly my problem for the last few years. Now with all the national coverage this will get, people assume this bag of dicks is indicative of all Cubs fans. These are just the d-bags who can afford to spend $200 for a bleacher tickets nowadays. Smae with the morons who travel to STL and ATL.

Ok Looking at the video I do see the 2 security guys at the bottom of the rows...They have white shirts on and have their back to the field. Not sure how they didnt get this guy. Wow time for new security out there. The should have been trained to watch the crowd and not the game. Someone is going to be reassigned!!

I hope you're joking.

Just like every city there will be d-bags that do something stupid and all of the sudden everybody gets a reputation. The majority of Phillies are good people. It always seems to be the drunks that spoil it. I would love to go to a game where beer wasn't sold. I bet a lot of family's would too.

I know it most likely is just the angle, but the guy looks like an bigger version of Fogell from Superbad. Even more so when they showed him getting thrown out on ESPN this morning.

Dang, $200! From 98 to 02 I went to plenty of games in the bleachers when I lived in Chicago. Things must be seriously different now. I do remember them taking the beer vendors out of the bleachers though.

It's pretty well known that Philadelphia fans as a whole are terrible people.

Let's see:

-Cubs fan throws a beer at Shane Victorino
-White Sox fans tackle Royals coach and beat him up during a game
-Mets fan gets arrested for pointing laser pointer at opposing players during a game
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball ... -ban_N.htm
-Mets fan beats his own mother to death with a barbell because he was mad that the Mets were losing
-An argument between a Giants and a Dodgers fan results in a death after the game

If Cubs fans want to go back to some stupid snowball incident from back the mid 1900’s, then it will be fair to also point out that during the Civil Rights Movement, the Chicago Riots caused large amounts of deaths between rioters. If you want to keep throwing this kind of stuff out there, keep in mind that your junk stinks too. The only reason that Phillies fans stuff gets thrown out there is because it’s an easy story for lazy sports reporting.

Sports reporter: “It’s a slow sports day today. Why don’t I go and find some Philadelphia citizens wearing Phillies hats who are torturing a butterfly and make a big story out of it.”

And at least 3 of those 4 occurences took place in 1999. If that's what you
consider the mid 1900's, somebody should slap your math/history teachers.

I know. This stuff happens at all ballparks. It only gets reported when Phillies fans do it because they're an easy target.

Actually you are right on.You won't see that crap happening at Minute Maid.It just doesn't.I know not all of you guys from up north are like this but the rest of the country has a hard time discerning that because when you hear about crap like this...it always seems to be in one of these northern cities. Its a general rule of thumb down here that everybody up North is just an a-hole.I feel bad for the normal people because they get lumped in with all the a-holes.

Rosenblatt Stadium that hosts the College World Series does not sell beer during the series but the street outside has a few beer gardens and then people are allowed to tailgate so the drunks always find there way in. It is nice to see though that no beer gets sold, keeps people from becoming even more drunk
