I think the jersey has a pretty good chance of being legit. The question is what mlbsalltimegreats said? How do we know if ted williams used it in a Navy game or he was just issued it. Right now it seems like its reasonable to think it's good

I feel like the cut sleeves help as why cut them if you aren't playing in it. Obviously would love more provenance though.

Has anyone dealt with Mears? What sort of process/cost would it take to get something authenticated... Is it a red flag that this hasn't been authenticated?

Edit: Just checked Mears and it looks like it would be $4000 or so to authenticate. That may be why it hasn't been done lol.

If the estimate is 3k for the jersey then why spend 4k to authentic it? It's not a red flag however I would sure like it to be authentication. With that being said that doesn't guarantee anything. Still think it's crazy if you can buy this for 3k. Seems like a good buy. I can't hardly buy a joe mauer gamer for that

I think it just comes down to what you want for spending that price. I think the confidence is there with the pictures Kevin provided showing Williams in a photo wearing the sleeveless pipe-less jersey so there shouldn't be much of a stress on if Williams owned and wore it or not. I personally am not confident it is a gamer, but I do believe it was at least used in practice (that is my own humble opinion, and not one done with any research).

I think it just comes down to what you want for spending that price. I think the confidence is there with the pictures Kevin provided showing Williams in a photo wearing the sleeveless pipe-less jersey so there shouldn't be much of a stress on if Williams owned and wore it or not. To me I'm also trying to decide how much that distinction might matter to me. All the games played were exhibition games so I'm not sure it bothers me a ton if he wore it at games or only at USO events...

To me in this unique situation I would agree with you. Where or how he wore it wouldn't make much difference
