Trying something new, but I have to do it by brute force. I am dividing a player's salary by his WAR value to get an index. A score of 5.0 means that it costs $5 million to make your team one game better by using this player. AL only.
A low number means a player was a better value. First, the ten highest paid players:
Arod $11.4 million per win
Jeter $17.4 million
Teixeira $4.9 million
Miggy $2.9 million
Torii Hunter $4.0 million
Magglio $8.9 million
Wells $4.6 million
Morneau $2.8 million
Drew $5.6 million
Next, the players with the highest WAR values who make less than $1m:
Longoria $120,000 per win
Choo $63,000
Billy Butler $100,000
Barton $93,000
Gardner $110,000
Cruz $110,000
Pennington $120,000
Adam Jones $170,000
Zobrist $160,000
Austin Jackson $160,000
Matt Wieters $160,000
Just playing around, because someone asked me to do it.
