Mine would be when I got back into the hobby back in 2005 after being out of it since the mid 90's. I bought a few boxes of basketball and one of the first packs I opened had a Baron Davis GU jersey piece in it. I almost crapped myself I was so excited. Little did I know that GU jersey pieces were the norm at that point and it was like a dollar card.

That was the most excitement I've ever had. I ended up with like three GU hits and an auto in that box and I was on cloud nine thinking I hit the mother load. When in reality I pulled like $20 worth of cards out of a $200 box.

It was back in 2007 or so. I received a box of 2005 Upper Deck Reflections for Hannukah, and I ended up pulling a David Wright/Justin Leone dual blue auto /35. Being a Mets fan it was HUGE to pull a Wright auto, and it's still one of my nicest looking cards to date.

My best pull ever really, never really broke anything after that.

I did split a case with my brother and our family friend Aaron (hamels heros) of 2006 Just Limited Mini helmets and 2004 Just Rookies mini bats. Those was a really fun, and inexpensive breaks which yielded some really cool pieces. I still have most of them, I sold one to Jay for his Adam LaRoche collection.

Thanks!

I ordered a box of 2000 SPX from some website when it was released, and it was the first or 2nd box I had busted since I got back into cards after taking a hiatus when I was roughly 16-19 years old. 3rd pack in, I pulled a Piece of History Ty Cobb bat card. Don't remember what else I got in the box, a bunch of cool inserts but nothing like the Cobb. It was an awesome feeling. I didn't know much about old school baseball back then, but this got me doing a little research on Cobb. I ended up deciding to sell the Cobb, and I had my local cardshop (r.i.p) list it on ebay for me. It sold for $585, as it was the first one listed and ended before beckett pricing came out at $350 or something. When I got paid from it, I spent about $100 at the shop from it.

Now 11 years later it's on my short list of stuff I'd like to pick up for my baseball PC.

My most memorable break was in 2008 and I wanted to bust my first ever hobby box, so I headed up to my LCS and spent my paycheck on a box of 2008 Donruss threads. I opened allmost all the packs and had allready gotten the 4 hits and I was pretty happy, I like the set and I got some nice autos. But in my third to last pack I pull a Willie Mays patch auto #25, I think I almost fainted. Its still one of my favorite cards and something I will never sell.

I busted (1) box of 04 BDP and (1) box of 04 Heritage in front of Lucas Harrell at the LCS I managed. He signed 1 Bowman and 1 Heritage and I gave him the rest.

My most memorable box break came in 1989...I went to a WaWa convenient store with my dad in search of the hottest card at the time it was revealed....the Billy Ripken F-Face card....I bought the box for $19.08 which included tax and I pulled the $100 hot card as it was all over the news and radio stations....and oh yeah some guy called Ken Griffey Jr.'s RC as well I pulled. I still have the cards because I made a set out of the box plus I made the infamous list to get the other 120+ cards I needed.....ahhh those were the days. Thanks for the contest!

i had pusted 5 loose packs and got nada, then i found a whole box for 50 dlvd several years ago also on ebay but struck out on those. never thought i would see the auto or another box again so two find two whole boxes was awesome and to actually pull the auto was quite possibly and sadly, the awesomest moment in my life.

I still consider that one of the sweetest pulls on the boards. Insane.

...but..all I can think about when I see that card is when I passed up some packs of Legendary Cuts to a kid in the hobby shop a few years back...and it cost me a Clemente legendary cut auto..Oh well, the kid was happy (even though he had no clue who Clemente was)

Funny thing about that card is that it was literally the first pack I opened in 11 years. Classic beginners luck-type story!

2006 was the first year I started collecting so then (before i knew anything about cards) I used to go to Wallmart with my friend and we both would buy 1 $20 box of retail topps cards. So we started opening the packs. I cant remember if I got anything good but I remember this, So my friend was on his second or so pack and he pulled this weird thick card with a jersey piece in it. He asked me what we should do with it, I said to pull out the jersey (luckily he didn't). So when we got home we looked up what it was and found out there were things called jersey cards. So this moment introduced us to cards on ebay and changed our outlook on cards forever. (It helped get my collection where it is today!)

Thanks, for the contest!!

Opened a box of 2001 SPX baseball and pulled an Ichiro auto. Sold it for $500 soon thereafter. I probably used that money to buy more boxes of cards in which I did not get anything close to that...

Mine had to be 2007 Goudey I think maybe 2008. I bought a random box at the shop as an impulse for like $60. I started ripping thru the box and I got so pissed all the cards were bent on the corners and stuff. I then got a redemption which further added fuel to the fire. The redemption was Don Mattingly goudey graphs sp where there was 100 made. I sent it in and looked on ebay. I saw them going for $120 buy it now and that was a redemption. I put mine up for $145 and someone bought it right away with $10 shipping. The next one sold for $120 redeemed and as of last moth they are selling for $60. I got lucky.

2010 Allen Ginter case. I usually do not buy cases, but really wanted in on Strasberg mania, and I LOVE Ginter! VERY fun break, but I preordered case. No Strasbergs turned up in any of the preordered stuff that I know of, over 50 cases reported showed no Stras! Was very disappointed by that, but my case hit was a rip card of Justin Upton 5/5.
