No way you are going to track down all of those tickets. It took me a month and a half just to track down a Descalso ticket from ths year. You are trying to track down 15 year old tickets.

Thanks for the words of encouragement!

Although more than a few people have put together comprehensive collections for Bonds, Ripken, Jr, etc., you're probably right. But I'm a persistent and resourceful guy. In about 2 years I've picked up season tickets from about 650 different games that Omar has played in, with hundreds more to trade. He's played in about
2,900 games, so I'm sitting at well over 20% already. I feel pretty confident that I can easily hit
at least 2,000, if not 2,500.

There are a ton of tickets available if you know where to look. If that Descalso ticket was from this year, odds are I could have found it down in a week or so. And for what it's worth, I'm hunting tickets that are up to 23 seasons old...
I was not trying to slam your collection. Im just saying don't expect to find every ticket. The 3rd time I posted on craigslist it took me an hour. I talked to Lenny Steren. Who is like a ticket guru or something.

No worries, just matter-of-fact and my dry sense of humor...

Lenny has a lot of tickets or at least access to them. But if you're looking for more or a different approach, try tracking down some season ticket holders and you may find a goldmine. I've found several with shoeboxes full of old tickets and couldn't believe I wanted to buy some of them. "Sure I'll sell them, but can you tell me WHY? I must have 200 tickets in here... how about $50?" Bingo. I have contacted people that have huge collections that will not part with a single one. For example I talked to a guy with almost every Twins ticket for decades. So the tickets are out there, you just need to network and get lucky. I know I'll likely never get them all, just like I won't get every Vizquel card. But I bet I can build a very large collection and have a lot of fun doing it!

When you're in the Top 10 on the PSA Registry.

Was #1 for both categories for Will Clark and Eddie Murray. Had to give that up to cover some bills.

VizquelCollector...since there's not too many cards available of Vizquel have you considered adding another individual to collect, or maybe look at other Vizquel items to collect (memorabilia)? I would have thought that they would be placing him in a lot of newer issues. I know the older star players are in a lot of the new sets...

I sure hope Omar starts popping up in some sets once he retires. I would love to see him in a few high-end products someday. Maybe paired up with Aparicio, for instance.

I actually also have PC's of both Charles Nagy and John McDonald. Not counting 1/1's, I'm missing 7 Nagy's and 1 McDonald. :(

I collect virtually any Vizquel memorabilia I can find, but the latest venture has been tracking down season tickets from every game Vizquel played in. It's fun but pricey. I'm staring at a brand new checklist with a million holes wondering "How and where in the heck am I gonna be able to find all these?"

Always been a fan of your player collections. Good luck with the tickets. Wanted to try it with one of my guys but... heavy collecting on 5 players... kinda nixed that.

Actually, I think ticket collecting is "far more" doable than card collecting. They don't do the 1/1's, or 1/3, or 1/5 or whatever like the cards that are being produced. There are "thousands" of tickets produced for each game. You just have to find the right contacts to purchase the tickets and they're usually reasonable. Also, someone will have the one's that weren't sold as well. Now that's for a relatively recent player; it gets far more difficult for the older players and more expensive as well. The recent tickets are a lot nicer than the older ones in my view. It will be a fun search in my view...

I've enjoyed reading the last few pages of this thread. I've been collecting Bonds since '98 when I was 15. I know a few other Bonds collectors with much more advanced collections than myself. I enjoy the chase and thrill of finding those tough inserts/oddballs that I've been waiting years to find. Like predator said, it's a marathon. You can track down lots of base and low end inserts on the cheap and then focus more attention to high dollar cards as you advance. I've known many Bonds collectors who have also sold off their collections (the PEDS and retirement played a significant part I believe).

I'm not sure if super collector is the correct term but.. I have a massive .45's collection. All the base cards plus most of the regionals(I'm from Texas so they weren't that hard to find) I have an auto of everyone Fox, Weekly, and Umbricht included, except for Jay Dahl. Poor kid was killed in an auto accident when he was just 20!

I don't really want every card produced of Bernie Williams. I do enjoy picking up what I can. I love them super sweet 90's cards. haven't counted all mine, but my girlfriend says I have to f****** many.

I consider myself a collector who wishes the term "supercollector" would go away.

What is this need to quantify everything?
