I hear theres about 10-20 of the 06B still out there. so odds are it could very well still be in one of those packs. I tend to think it is.

How does someone calculate the 10-20% number? It doesn't seem possible...even more so when you consider the number of cases that go overseas.

Ever think it might be sitting in Twain in a collection?

thats just a rough estimate of the numbers people are throwing around. it seems about right but I have 0 clue.
good question, I would like to see someone with some math skills tackle it and make a sharper estimate than mine.

well, four out of five red refractors for three highly traded players have been pulled, and I have tracked between 16-18 orange refractors for several players as well that have surfaced, so that's how I know likely over 80% of the product has been cracked.

Why not, they screwed up this RC with a ghost image:
193%20Evan%20Longoria%20RC.jpg

Its the only super I've EVER seen with this printing error...

Its nice to know that the location or even existence of everything is not known, adds some mystery to the hobby. Perhaps the card was destroyed and no longer exists.

Topps accidentally replaced a photo of Longoria with a picture of an unknown minor league prospect from the Pirates organization, and it turns out, Topps actually got one of their employees to sign the card. Apparently, the prospect has even less hope of actually making it to the majors, though no one is really sure where he is at this time.

Now, presenting for the first time ever, the granddaddy superfractor of them all:

should I ask topps for a replacement? really, i'll even take a non-error Longoria red auto /5 for it. Darn Topps!

It can't be estimated....for example, I knew a guy who purchased 25 cases with the intent of busting and listing lots on the product release date. He fell ill and the cases were never opened. Factoring in this type of scenario and the amount of product that was shipped overseas a reliable estimate is not possible.

You could scour eBay and other major distributors to get a count or at least the "floor" but nothing better.

then hid the cases in the four corners of the world to throw off my estimates

Just curious to see what people think. Do you think it's in a hobby box of 2006 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects? Or is someone hanging onto it for an unknown reason? Or maybe some kid got some packs for x-mas and has no idea what they have? Thoughts?

its one of the most speculated things in the whole hobby.

sure, it could have been pulled by a kid, but odds are kids who know very little about baseball wouldnt have bought a prospecting product to begin with, but instead a base topps/ud product with Pujols or Griffey on the cover.

I hear theres about 10-20 of the 06B still out there. so odds are it could very well still be in one of those packs. I tend to think it is.

It would be cool to do a "search effort" with everyone buying a box(/case) and busting it on a certain day. maybe we could knock that 10-20% to 5-10% remainder.

Is that 10-20 thousand or 10-20 boxes left, cause if that's the case there is a store in cooperstown that has 6 or 8 boxes.

I believe that is a percentage.

Its probably stuck to the back of some scrubs card in 06bdpp. Whoever busted it never noticed it, and its sitting in some common box that was donated to Goodwill, that nobody will ever look through.

correct, I was just talking in rough percentages .

and VP, I partially agree with you. I think anything in the world can be estimated, but the level of accuracy changes with the intangibles (like the big one you mentioned) thats why I have a huge 10% range on mine from 20 to 10.. thats a pretty vague estimate but the right kind IMO, as theres so much we dont know that is hard to narrow without more math.. and even then its hard.

I've got a case sitting at home that I would be willing to "donate" to the cause. If anyone else wants to have a "breaking" party, let us know. Maybe we can make it a reality afterall.

Seen a kid bust a pack at a card show years back. Pulled what was either an Longoria Xfractor or Superfractor. It was just a little kid and the dad wouldnt let anyone see it. He didnt know what he had anyway. They left never to be seen again. I feel like it had to be an Xfractor but you never know. I only seen the card from a distance.

:o I'd take that over the Longo any day. Then again, being a Pirate fan has been known to cause other various delusions from time to time as well. If you ever have interest in moving it, please let me know.

I don't own it anymore, but I like to scan it here and there. It sold on ebay about three years ago for $170. good luck hunting it down!

Maybe Longoria got it from Topps himself? Like Hughes did with his Red Refractor 1/1.
