I agree with many of the choices listed. To the pre-1950 category, I would add the 1903 E107 Breisch-Williams. The E107 set was the first major release of the 20th century, featuring one of the earliest cards of Honus Wagner.
I don't want to hijack this thread, but wouldn't Ruth's true rookie be his 1916 M101-5?
