I would like the 3rd party to comment.

An opinion please on the matter.

The slo mo vid proves that Porcello threw him to the ground. Try blaming the momentum or whatever, he got thrown to the ground. Porcello did not side step, he planted his foot and threw him to the ground. Plain and simple. I consider myself a 3rd party here as I'm not a Red Sox hater or nor do I root for the Tigers. I am an NL guy.

Who cares if Porcello threw him to the ground or not? Youk charged him. That guy is a good player but is such a bitch, there's no other way around it. It's no wonder every team hits him.

Here is the photo I am getting painted. I am a little biased here, but Porcello had all the rights to throw him down, plus Youk should have been able to take him down...*****!

Porcello did what needed to be done. You can't have your best player get hit two nights in a row and not retaliate. I don't think Cabrera was intentionally hit with a pitch tonight. But Porcello had to show Cabrera (and everyone else) that there is a price to be paid when you keep coming in on him - especially after Cabrera had to leave the game because of being hit. Youkilis should understand that better than anyone.

Having said that, Youkilis is a wussy in every sense of the word. Throwing your helmet is about as weak as it gets.

I would like the 3rd party to comment.

Third party comment...here you go:

It was a mix of both.

Youk had a firm hold of Porcello (and vice versa) at the time. They took a few steps backwards before Porcello clearly used his power to turn it around and Youk went down with it.

Yes, the momentum played a role, but Porcello also had a big part in it. If it was ALL momentum, Porcello would have gone straight backwards and fallen on his back with Youk on top of him.

And for those who still claim it was intentional, let's put it this way, the pitch was clearly a breaking ball, you DON'T intentionally hit someone with a breaking ball.

That pitch was just as unintentional as the Tazawa pitch. The V-Mart pitch, well that's another story.

It was a two seam fastball at 89 mph. Not a breaking ball.

Intentional or not, those questioning Youk charging the mound are being a little naive.

Was it a 2-seamer or a slider then?? Watching the pitch itself in slo-mo, it definitely looked like a breaking ball coming out of his hand.

Porcello DID show that, by throwing at Martinez. Why does he need to throw up an in to TWO guys?

Brooks has it as a 89 mph two seamer - it certainly had the run of a two seamer and his offspeed is more like low 80's rather than 89-90.

The right to throw him down? I guess - but Youk had just as much right to charge.
