These look amazing! You inspired me to slowly start to pursue the 2000 set, and maybe one day look to do the 2001 set, though the Mays scares me a bit...Last mail day of 2022 unless something I forgot sneaks in
2021 Greats of the Game pickups - These leave me at 60/95 cards. That's not too bad for only working on it since July. Hopefully I can finish it up next year.

I don't imagine I'll ever end up with the Mays either. It's just completely outside of what I'm comfortable spending on a modern card. Hopefully one becomes available somehow that I can trade or trade/cash for at some point. If not I'll finish the non-SP set and whatever I get of the SPs is great. These look amazing! Definitely appreciate that. The 2001 set was the first GOTG one I ever opened (don't think I ever opened a 2000) and the look is beautiful, so I have a pull towards it, but for now decided to go for the 1st set (leaving aside SI GOTG from the year before which I view a little different, but may one day want to pursue as well).I don't imagine I'll ever end up with the Mays either. I've been slowly accumulating pieces of the 1999 SI Greats of the Game Auto set too but again there is a Mays and 3 Reggie Jackson variations to try to locate.

There are so many great names in these sets, many of whom are no longer with us unfortuantely.
The amount of N*gro Leaguers in the checklist is what drew me to the 2001 set to start with. I love that the GOTG sets, especially the '99 SI set, include a lot of guys that don't normally get autos as well. So many of the retired player auto sets from that era are rehashes of the same guys (Mays, Ryan, Banks, Jackson, McCovey, etc.) that having autos of guys like Ed Kranepool, Rocky Colavito, Bob Forsch, Paul Blair, and others is a plus not a minus for me. I don't dislike having multiple autos of Nolan Ryan or Ernie Banks but it kind of gets monotonous, at least for me, getting the same autographs over and over even if the card they are on is different.
I'm with you 100%, and the inclusion of ***** League players is a big deal. Fleer was ahead of other companies in this area, particularly with their 2001 Fleer Stitches in Time insert set, which exlcluively focused on the ***** Leagues.
I'm pretty sure most is from MLB, if not all. The only ***** League related item that I know of is a Jackie Robinson item that appears to have been from the Kansas City Royals barnstorming team.Oh yeah. I built the Stitches in Time set a long time ago. I should have built the auto and memorabilia sets back then too but I didn't. I have often wondered if the game used material in the relic set is from N*gro League pieces or MLB ones though.
