There was a little bit of everything in the box today from tobacco silks to basketball

1900s Nebo Tobacco Patriotic Songs silk The Wearing of the Green - I bought this thinking it was about 3"x5" like the Welsh flag I have but this think is almost 6"x9". Guess I have to hunt for the other sizes now.

A couple relic cards. I buy very few of these nowadays, but some of the older ones are still appealing. They pretty much need to be dirt cheap and/or catching a ride with something else. Slaughter and Wilhelm. s-l1600-5.pngs-l1600-2.png

Issel. I think this is one of the better designs for this set. s-l1600.jpg

An outstanding mail day all around for me in 4 cards. 2 are in the Dodger thread, but these 2 are big scores for me, especially the Thomas, as I have wanted one of these for a long time

1992 Barry Colla Frank Thomas "factory" Autograph. These were inserted into sealed sets of Thomas cards.FT1.jpgFT2.jpg

The Big O, probably my best O auto card now, as I love these Old School designs. Had to make an exception from my Probstein boycott! s-l1600.jpg

I'd like to have a conversation on this find of yours- that one is on my want list
Looks like the Patch / Auto variation - could you scan the back ??

I collect that series for Fisk-- would be willing to make it worth your while with a Patch / Auto # 4/5 worth 4x as much in trade that I have a dupe of ( see below)

I am more a fan of the set itself, not Fisk per se. I try to pick up cheaper copies of players when they are available.

This is the back from the auction photos.

A few days. More work turmoil taking up time. I need to retire!!

Carew /30. I enjoy lower serial numbers, but do many people even pay attention much anymore. It seems a lot of cards are issued in low print runs and the low print runs are less exciting. Less product, lower serial numbers. Not like the day of 10K Elites being big finds for sure. 30.jpg

Whitey /99. s-l1600-6.jpg

Boomer and Taylor lots. s-l1600-1.jpgs-l1600-2.jpg

Gannon /35. 35.jpg

Like the horizontal, action shot. Snead. Wish he had a better Viking card like this. Snead Au.jpg

Someone out there did what I was thinking of doing, using the Clemens High School Yearbook image on a card. Nice quality, thick, cool use of cracked ice looking technology. I don't really care if it stays a true 1/1 or he makes and sells a bunch more, but I like well done art cards, so, I bought it on a gamble.

I will say, an actual yearbook was recently circulated and I passed on it, mostly because I felt like buying one of those is in a strange, "not collecting, borderline stalking" kind of vibe haha. Unless I was in that class, feels a little weird to have it. So this card keeps me from feeling like a creeper lol.

I have a Trent Dilfer Jr. High School yearbook and I will agree, that is a bit creepy. In my defense I've only ever looked at it once, and it's not like I searched around for his yearbooks, it just popped up with his name one day years ago. I will say I did pass on one of his old suits that came up for auction for some reason, that was way too far.

Several maildays worth of stuff:

051423-1.jpg
Here's the big one, 1998 Crusade Purple Jason Giambi 011/100. There are 6 A's in the Crusade set: Giambi, Canseco, Miguel Tejada, Ben Grieve, AJ Hinch, and Ryan Christenson. I missed the boat on the Cansecos and will probably never own any of them, but for the other 5 players I do have all of the Greens and Purples now. Plus a Red Grieve.

051423-2.jpg
Three from 1999 UD Century Legends Century Collection. I still need 3 more to complete the team set - Canseco and Henderson, who I'd have to be extremely lucky to find cheap, and Lefty Grove.

051423-3.jpg
Some '90s stuff. 1999 UD View to a Thrill Triple Grieve 094/100. 1999 UD MVP Gold Script Matt Stairs 088/100 completes the team set! 1997 Fleer Tiffany McGwire, the last of his 4 cards in the set. I still need 2 elusive commons to finish off the team set. 1995 UC3 In Depth subset Artist's Proof McGwire completes the team set. 1999 Topps Gold Label Class 3 Black Label Grieve finishes up my 1998-99 Black Label A's needs. And a 1997 SP Game Film McGwire 231/500.

051423-4.jpg
1940 Play Ball Sam Chapman gets me 3 away from finishing the team set. A couple of 2009 Topps Update Silks/50: Jason Giambi and Vin Mazzaro. 2006 Upper Deck Gold Santiago Casilla 35/99 gets me one away from finishing that team set, which is mostly /299 but have some /99 high number short prints. And a 2005 Leaf Certified Mirror White Autograph Eric Byrnes 23/25.

051423-5.jpg
A bunch of refractors, all /50 except the 2023 Colin Peluse Purple Auto 177/250.

051423-6.jpg
A couple of Rollie Fingers autographs, 2022 Topps '87 All-Stars and 2003 Sweet Spot Classics. 2021 Topps Black Stephen Piscotty and 2020 Topps Pink Chris Bassitt round it out.

I wouldn't say a yearbook is too far, but there are some really odd items that could take it too far if they were to become collectibles on the open market.

I have at least one, possibly a couple Garvey featured yearbooks. The thing is, I am not going to drop a lot of $ on something like this though and most people selling stuff like that think it is solid gold. There are 2 listed now that have been for sale at the same price with a BO option for a long time. The ask is too high that a "reasonable" offer will probably seem insulting to the seller, so I have never bothered.

I don't collect Soccer, but this is just something I want. I won a lot of about 15 of these from a local seller, so I decided to add a search for more. They don't come up a lot. This lot showed up and was cheap, so even if I have them all already, it was a decent buy. 1970s Seattle Sounders 3" approx pinbacks buttons.

s-l1600.jpg

A couple more of these Wilkins Autos. I am cautious, so I don't bid a lot. s-l1600-2.jpgs-l1600-3.jpg
