Re: When Selling of a Prospect Stash.... POLL

I typically sell in waves, so I get repeat buyers. Typically an eBay just targets one or two auctions but if you are dumping of bulk of cards all ending at the same time, then the buyers are going to possibly be missing some of your auctions.

Thank you! So how long would you recommend before listing the next? And how many at the same time should you do? Or just 1?

Depends.

Its better to sell as a lot if you have affordable chrome autos and refractors, possibly even xfracttors

It's better to sell individually if youre selling higher end stuff.

so would it be fine to list a chrome auto then another than 2 days later another and another, then 2 days later another and another,
like that?

Depends, who's the player?

There are PLENTY of variable you're not thinking about.

1. Has the Prospect done SO much in AA/AAA that he's making national news? If so, then lots of smaller stuff and single high-end cards are the way to go, unless...

2. Is the prospect Strasburg, or Buchholtz, or Harper? You can make a killing no matter how you sell, and in the case of massive amounts of hype, splitting everything up gets you more exposure, and lessens the chance that you'll get a NPB buying up your lots.

3. Has the prospect made a steady climb thru the farm system and then is just as effective when called up? Braun, for example, could be sold at any time during 2007 and you were making real money, because he just wouldn't stop. Lincecum and others were the same way.

Also, non-autos almost always go in lots, unles we're talking about #2 up there. Autos are better sold by themselves, maybe in a 2-fer at base auto level.

It's almost never better to sell in a lot with any card that sells for as much as Taillon autos do. Definitely better to list as singles.

Lots are best for low end non-auto cards like base chrome lots or even Refractor non-autos.

Bingo.
Doing it this way allows the lower budgeted collector to get in on the action too.

Sounds right selling lots from breaks on base cards and selling the autos separatly once the player heats up. But depends on the player.
