Nice South Side dual! The Grace was my second too, #82/100. I tend to like guys that play long careers for mostly one team. The Allegiance cards, celebrating these guys, were right up my alley.

There's five players in the Allegience set that I collect, which means I have less than 0% chance to tracking down all five refractors. The Nomar will be impossible, even considering the downturn his cards have taken. Maybe I could get lucky and stumble upon a Thome, or a Rolen, or a Biggio....but I sure don't stand a chance picking up my own Grace as long as you're hoarding them all! :D

Nice, saw your last post and was going to point out the one on COMC, but you grabbed it I'm assuming. There was a Nomar just two weeks ago.

I definitely missed the Nomar, although I have to assume it went for big bucks. There seems to be a perception that his cards are overpriced because he played in Boston, which Beckett seems to be trying to fix by removing him from the listings and calling his late 90's cards "unlisted stars". To some degree, it is accurate, but don't forget, he did play at a HOF level for a number of years, so I think his rarer cards are always going to sell for good money.

I saw the auction, but didn't watch it to conclusion. Just checked completed auctions. Guess I should have added it to the watch list.

That is a steal - but keep in mind that Beckett just slashed the book values on these. They decreased the BV by like 50%-75% a month ago on the cards in this set. That $100 BV is now $25 BV.

This is going to make you sick then...

thanks for pointing that out. the Edgar Martinez glove would be nice--i mean, how often do you think he used that thing?

Someone is listing all the hard to find 2001 UD gold glove leather bound cards with a piece of game used glove on ebay right now!!!

A second thanks for pointing them out. But I am so bummed right now. I could have used 4 of them, but 3 were sold before I saw them, and all for less than $14.99 (some $7.99). I want to scream. At least I checked one of my list (Salmon). Only 5 left to complete the set: Ichiro, Lopez, Caminiti, Fox and Vizquel.

Amazing collection! These cards are awesome. I suspect some of them have a print run lower than 100. I've been looking for the Caminiti for over 8 months now. It was his last gu card on my want list. I also picked up the Klesko, Olerud, Buhner and Martinez.

Since when do we go by BV for 90's and early 00's inserts? Throw Beckett out the window on most of them.

Seriously! Some of Beckett's recent revisions make sense, but there's no way scarce or rare 90's inserts are being sold at drastic discounts. Maybe they're basing their revisions on one or two isolated sales, then using those as some kind of model to adjust prices on similar cards. Or they're just trying to make it cheaper for them to buy all the awesome 90's inserts, then jack the prices back up and make bank.
