I've heard that Billy Martin and Mantle were drinking buddies during their playing days. There was an article in the New York Times last week that a few NY players including Mantle got in a bar brawl in the late 50's and all got arrested. Someone blamed the Yankee players for starting the fight. After all theses years, the guy that started the fight came forward and finally admitted it !

I've had this one for a long time. It was one of my white whales at one point. I thought I'd show something different.

Danny,

I don't think there will ever be a day that I won't get excited when I see a Topps All-Rookie Team card signed. I opened up your album and saw 3 almost immediately, including one of my all-time favorites, Jim Gentile. Of course, I like them all and wish continuing to collect them was a realistic option, but so many superstar and "perceived superstar" players in the set recently and modern players not signing as much, plus base Topps not being as popular for signature collectors have made it a lost cause, at least for me. This is just one reason why I stopped. $60? Seriously? The guy should be a $8-10 auto at best. Another hard swinging, HR hitting, low average, strikeout master. MLB history is filled with them!

Someday I'd like to fill the lesser player holes I still have through about 2009 (just to keep it even), and 60 years worth. I know I'll likely never get Munson, Jeter & Ichiro, but I would like to think I could get the rest someday.
