Roy Oswalt makes the list? Mike Mussina does not (Mussina is pretty much better in every category except ERA, but he does have those pesky 133 extra wins)
Well maybe you are going on shorter stretches of greatness as opposed to total counting stats...that's reasonable. So then how is Pedro Martinez below Oswalt on your list? From this era only Maddux can hold a candle to Pedro's stint in Boston, where from 1999 to 2003 his HIGHEST ERA was 2.39. Oswalt's lowest career ERA was 2.94 in 2005.
As for hitters this is where it gets pretty funny. Maybe you like Jim Edmonds 8 gold gloves, 4 All star games and 1 silver slugger. He was a nice player and a great one to watch flash the glove in center. So how could you defend the opinion that he is "greater" than Roberto Alomar? Alomar had 10 gold gloves, 12 All star appearances and 4 silver sluggers. That's minus 11 in Edmonds vs. Alomar in those 3 categories. Edmonds had more power and a lower batting average but Alomar also had those extra 400 stolen bases...
Further- Jeff Kent is high up on your list- and Barry Larkin is not!? I think I'll just stop there as I will get too worked up.
I did say IN NO ORDER
And it is MY opinion on the top 25.
If yours differ, PLEASE post them. I am polling the BOARD for the greatest of the last 25 seasons, not just my opinion on the matter.
So, instead of criticizing my own PERSONAL 25, why not post your own?
hofautos-- Read the above line, thanks.
And please don't get offended or think I am being hostile, but you two are the only two who have outright questioned someone's personal opinion in this thread.
