Thanks for bringing up the stats.

I think it's pretty clear Bonds was the best hitter of the 1990's.

The second best for me would be a tie b/w Frank Thomas and Ken Griffey as they seem to have the best balance b/w both high totals and high averages and were consistently good.

Will Clark and Mark Grace leap to mind along with Gwynn

BEST hitter of the 90's, not good hitters of the 90's.

Mark Grace had more hits than anyone in the 90's. I can understand maybe not feeling the same about Clark but Grace and Gwynn are #1 and #4 in hits for the 90s.

Mark Grace had more hits than anyone in the 90's. How is that not valued?

Not saying he wasn't good, but he's FAR from the best of the 90's. For a guy w/ the most hits in the 90's (your case for him), his career best OBS was 409, & he only eclipsed the 400 mark 3 times in his career. Best finish in MVP voting was 13th.

We could go back and forth on this all day, and I see your point, but don't misunderstand me. I am not saying that guys like Junior and FT weren't great hitters, but I value guys like Gwynn just as much as them, and 1700+ hits for a decade is pretty awesome ya know? I just happen to consider Grace and Gwynn as some of the best hitters during that span is all. :D

I should also note that I thought we were looking for "hitters" not hitter, so thats my mistake.

where's Bodiaz when we need him most? His Bonds babble and banter would actually hold some water in here...

What does any of that have to do with hitting?

I thought this would be pretty simple. Shouldn't the best hitter of any time period be the player with the most hits in said time period?
