BGS grading question send as is or break open

not sure what to do leave it as is and send it back in or break it open and wipe down the surface and send it back?

I would leave it as is. BGS 9 is very nice grade. With 8.5 surface probably has some scratching or dentage.

If you crack it open you run the risk of dropping that 8.5 surface sub to an 8 or even 7.5 if you screw up, I'd leave it.

Before you crack it out, check and see if you can see why it got an 8.5 on surface. If it looks like there's some dust or a finger print, crack it out and wipe it clean.

Crack it open, wipe it down and re-sub. With those subgrades I'd bet it won't come back less than a 9.
