Got this in the mail today.
Not many times when batting glove cards show up. Got a great deal IMO.

Any of you guys going after that $50000 buy it now Griffey lot on ebay right now? Awesome Awesome lot. Looks to be about $15000-20000 worth of very rare 90s Griffeys, but after speaking with the seller, he is expecting a crazy price of $30000. Anybody see it possibly going for that much?

I've been watching it. I was thinking about 25,000 would be a good price. I'm not going to be making any offers but wish I could.

CAN ANYONE HELP WITH AN INSERT CARD?

I'm not in a place I do a scan now, but its listed

1993 Pinnacle Cooperstown Dufex #22 Ken Griffey Jr.

Beckett lists the card at $350, and is usually low on inserts. Does anyone know any history behind the card, anything about the # printed, and what the aprox value might be? Also is Dufex Coating unusual? What is it that makes this card so valued?

Any help would be appreciated and I can post a scan later unless somebody else beats me too it

Thanks
Steve B

It's a fairly rare dufex parallel version of the Pinnacle Cooperstown Card boxed set. The basic set was mass produced and can be had dirt cheap. I think they made 1,000 of these dufex sets to be given away at a baseball card conference back in 1993. I've heard that the full 1,000 weren't distributed at the conference and thus the full print run didn't hit the market, however, usually these items get "backdoored" or otherwise sold after the fact if there are left-over sets, so I would guess close to the full print run made it out there. Though the print run seems somewhat high, it still is a sought after card since 1,000 cards was a very low print run back in 1993. The old Donruss Elites from 1991 and 1992 have jumped recently and those were printed to 10,000. The Griffey dufex is a pretty rare insert, but $350 is way too much for the card (unless perhaps it has a 9.5 or 10 grade?). I think it realistically is a $100 - $150 card for a Griffey.

A special all-Dufex version of the Cooperstown set was distributed to attendees of the 1993 SCAI conference in Dallas, TX. 1000 Dufex sets were produced; however, since attendance at the convention was less than anticipated, this set was also distributed through other methods.
