to assume that someone could pony up all the exclusive money without a partner or a strong financial backer is absurd... not saying its ud... maybe its the illumanati! but there has got to be something or someone backing it...

the most important things to me in the whole razor discussion are:
they will help topps and ud produce quality products.
they will validate the mlbpa rookie logo with exclusives.
they will even out the prospect playing field (license aside).
matt wieters will have an upper deck mlbpa logo card 1 full year before a topps logo card.

I pretty much agree with all that you've said. Now, I have not followed the whole Razor discussion (kind of tough on these boards, eh?), so can you fill me in as to why your last point is true? Thanks.

The exclusive contract with MW extends one year past him making the 25 man roster.

Got it. Very interesting. I suppose this could happen with a few other exclusives as well, although no doubt most of them are more than two years away from a pre-September call up.

EDIT-oops, I read that wrong. You mean the contract states that, not that people are expecting him to make it to that roster within the next two years.

Sorry, I can be a dolt: Why does this preclude Topps from having a card before UD?

So, assuming Wieters makes the O's this year, when does he get his first liscenced card?

Topps has to sign individual players to contracts, and it sounds as if Razor's exclusive contract with him precludes Topps from doing that.

UD, on the other hand, has a blanket contract with the MLBPA, so any member of that union is fair game for their cards. Weiters will have an UD card whenever he makes the 25-man roster, and a Topps card one year after that (if he decides to sign Topps' contract).

In regards to these exclusive contracts, I personally will wait for validation of their strength.

Tommy: Hey, I'll tell you what. You can get a good look at a butcher's ass by sticking your head up there. But, wouldn't you rather to take his word for it?
Mr. Brady: What? I'm failing to make the connection here.
Tommy: No, I mean is, you can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking your head up a butcher's ass... No, wait. It's gotta be your bull.
Richard: Wow.

Here is the thing

When a rep of any company tells me something, and I have no reason to doubt it, I generally don't. Topps tells me that thier aflac's are /250, and I believe them. Razor makes the claims of exclusivity and I believe them as well. I have no reason to doubt the claim.

Rico, sure it does. See my above statement.

At this point, who really cares?

Brian promised something and delivered. What happens now is up to the hobby to decide. Thats all.... Do you really think anyone these days ventures in to a multi million dollar buisness gamble solo? THere is always people behind the scenes, silent partners and investors with there own ideas and reasons, perhaps even unknown to Brian.

I have alot of questions...

How did he get EVERY card signed.
How did he get the designers and print masters, where did they come from?
How did he get the printing done? Where??
What type of PR department and staff does RAZOR employ??
Who schooled him in the verse of card production, packaging and shipment?
Who were part of his think tank?
Who does he owe thanks to??

I can think of 100 more questions...

I just find it hard to believe that someone can come out of nowhere and produce this kind of product without the help and/or assistance from someone or some company in the know... However, rumor or not, fact or not. I do not care........

I totally agree where did he come up with all this in a matter of a few months.

Seems to me like no appearances by any razor exclusives in BDP, EEE, Threads or Sterling might be a good start. I'm sure Brian consulted good lawyers when having these written up.

As far as Chris being a marionette, he posts everything he's allowed to post information wise, that's from Razor, Topps and Donruss, he gets info from all three he doesn't post, this happens when you are well-connected.

Brian is quick to jump in many posts, i wonder why he hasn't made an appearance here to possibly answer some of the questions?

He mentioned recently he wouldn't be as active in threads but rather just respond to emails, PMs, phone calls, he gets nothing but bashed when answering questions.

If I recall, Brian did mention that many/some were mailed to him but players sign contract promising to do the signing
I know he said he did have to fly to the islands to get some autos

As far as some jumping all over Jeff, history has shown that he does stir the pot and asks questions to which he already knows the answer (lawyer trick) just to see if the answer can open a can of worms.
I actually think this was an attempt to display the olive branch and make a Razor thread that wasn't negative
JP's response was surprising but then again, the topic of Razor has been doing that (making them snappy) to several it seems

I think I was one of a handful who supported Razor from day 1 on the BMB when many ripped them like crazy but now I am leaning towards being so fricking turned off by the goooshing Razor obsession and site favoritism

Razor = new Bubble Boy.
