abncollectsautos said:pete14rose, seems all you want to do is contradict what i say. i stand by what i said but ill state it differently in case i confused you. i know lots of people did it then and understand most of them did. i wish more players since the korean war would have done it. more people (players included) should serve in the military. im glad ted williams gave up his time to serve his country, very honorable.
Not looking to contradict you at all. You're doing s fine job of it all by yourself. You seem to have a knack of making comment/remarks that contradict actual facts. I am merely pointing out the actual facts to you.
You say you wish more would have served back then. I assume "back then" meant WWII and the Korean war. I provided you a list of however many hundred MLB players actually did serve during WWII alone. How many more would you have wanted to serve? The entire league top to bottom? In context to the actual facts of how many did serve, your remark was ridiculous. Sorry, just a fact.
I haven't even listed all that served in the Korean War, let alone those that pulled double duty in WWII and Korea.
Now you say you wish more would have served from then to now? In what? The Vietnam conflict? Do I need to pull out history and provide you with the number of soldiers we lost in a "war" we should have never been involved in to begin with? Or maybe you meant right now in Iraq? You honestly believe we belong there as well and that professional athletes should run to enlist?
All I ask is that you think before you type and perhaps use Google to look up a few facts now and again to have a better grasp on a few details before you remark on them.
That's all.
