[quote="Jays_Cards":cdtio495]I guess you can count me as a hater, but I have not been overly impressed. He has not looked bad, but taking his opponent into consideration, I have been MUCH more impressed by Porcello this year.

thats the thing... Porcello has the tigers offense to score for him, he doesn`t have to be completely dominant. Lincy is dominant and can win with the little offense he seems to get from the giants. I doubt Porcello would have many wins in san fran...

I have not owned any Madbum stuff but I just dont know if its a wise investment.

Ehh..Pitching in the AL is a HUGE disadvantage to pitching in the NL West.

Sorry guys... i guess i got mixed up in my point... The thing i was trying to compare was porcello and bumgarner...[/quote:cdtio495]
Porcello is more polished having more MLB experience obviously, and is definately more proven to me, I just don't think Bum will ever be anything special (#1-2 guy, even in SF) I see him at a 4-5 or bullpen guy, but we'll see.

I do not think anyone would try to compare a whole year to one start. Merely in terms of stuff and future potential, I think Porcello has Bum dominated.

For his MLB debut, I really like the strike to ball ratio. Nicely done, especially for someone that was not supposed to sniff the show this year.

i agree, going back over the line..none of the k`s were against the 2-6 hitters and one was against the pitcher.. But the age thing keeps jumping out at ya...only 20!! ... Should say something about porcello for Roy since he is also 20 (I believe)

He pitched 7 ip sept 1 and then an inning on sept 6 then traveled. MAde the start today unexpectedly and was very nervous. Overall did great for his debut.

I think everyone needs to see him a few more time before they judge him. His fastball has more gitty up to it usually.

Dear Madison Bumgarner,

You shouldn't have K'd me in that second at bat - all I wanted was another single. It got me angry, so I had to turn your first win into a no decision. Now you know.

Signed,
Will Venable

haha. he needed to learn his lesson, you have to go at least 8 innings to have a 75% chance of winning.

Iv'e been hearing that he has had tired arm since mid july, i think thats the main reason for his lack of velocity...atleast lets hope.

After a slow start getting acclimated to big league pitching, Venable is now hitting .333 since July 30th with 9 homers and 27 RBI's. He's also made Sportscenter Top 10 about 4 times for his defense. Maybe others will finally start to notice!
