I am sure most of you are aware that Roy Halladay is a major upgrade over Cliff Lee.

Sure Lee is a good pitcher in his own right, but Roy is simply off the charts. This is a major front end of the rotation upgrade for the phillies.

If the Phillies can keep Drabek and Brown...that would HUGE "steal" for them!
Even if they lost ja happ, michael taylor and cliff lee?

Don't forget, they traded Carlos Carrasco, Jason Knapp, Lou Marson, and Jason Donald to get Lee

Re: Lee to mariners, Halladay to Phills?

Actually, its sad to be a fan of any team the past year unless your an Angels, Phillies, Yankees, or Red Sox fan. Seems to be the teams only doing something in the offseason.

none of those guys have a high ceiling

maybe Jason Knapp develops into something, but the rest of those guys are role players and utility men.

Well Brown will be up midseason. Outfield of Snider-Saunders-Brown will be one of the best in baseball soon.

You an have all the pitching you want, but Youkilis and Ortiz won't carry the lineup.

Bay can go far away. a .260 average and 160 Ks isn't worth the contract.

You know that picking up Lackey gives the Sox arguably the best rotation in the regular season, and a 5 or 7 game series. Beckett, Lester, Lackey, Matsuzaka, Wakefield/Buchholz/Sheets/****/Anyone is a rotation that is arguably better than anything the Red Sox would see in the American League.

Lackey also makes Buchholz expendable, and a trade for Adrian Gonzalez a now very realistic possibility. IF the Sox sign Lackey (officially), trade Lowell (officially), and deal Max Ramirez/Clay Buchholz/Josh Reddick/Rizzo++ for Gonzalez (hypothetically), there is not a better team built for next year, and the next 5 years then the Red Sox.
Next Year/Next 5 Years
C- VMart/FA/Wagner/Exposito
1B - Gonzalez
2B - Pedroia
SS - Scutaro/FA/Iglesias
3B - Youkilis
LF - Platoon/FA/Kalish/Lin
CF - Ellsbury
RF - Drew/FA/Kalish/Lin
DH - Ortiz/FA

1 Beckett
1a Lester
1b Lackey
2 Matsuzaka
3 Wakefield/Kelly/Bowden/FA

Sprinkle in high draft picks in next years draft from Wagner and Bay, and you have a team that is scary, and built for the future, without the problem of having 6 guys locked up for $125 mm in 2011.

Even if the Sox don't trade for Gonzalez, with the run differential that Lackey brings to this team, combined with a better defensive left side of the IF that Beltre (if Gonzalez isn't acquired) and Scutaro would bring, this team is built for success.

Halladay in the NL is going to be sick.

How did this end up being about the Red Sox?

Re: Lee to mariners, Halladay to Phills?

This is just like the night Tiger crashed his truck and went to the hospital( I read he's in serious condition, and some saying he was released already, at the same time.

... half of the reporters are saying Brown, Drabek.. and maybe player x...and others are saying Taylor, player x and player y...someone is lying!

nope, but what is funny is card collectors care more who is going where then Mariner fans.

Plus, all this makes this work day go by quicker.
