Sad, considering this was a simple customer service issue, Brian is very easy to contact, and Ty knows this.

It's not a minor issue. The company is trying to pass off one thing as another. Which is wrong.

I don't like "cuts" of living celebs/athletes. Seriously, it's all been played out and stretched even further with cut sticker autos(cut auto cards placed in cards was bad enough). I would prefer a dual auto of the pair with stickers than a "cut" with stickers.

I know it's a money saver since Leaf already paid for the signings. But it makes the product look Tristar cheap. Ali was great even if some were stickers. Cut autos just seem stale now unless there's a good reason for it being a cut(deceased celebrity or player).

It's not really a minor issue if this many people disagree about it.

Or, if you consider a company calling something one thing when it's been that way for years, then actually producing something different, minor, I guess it is minor then.

Ty,

Figures you would hit one of these cards. At the 11th hour, I went through the checklist and rmeoved what I thought were drastically substandard autographs. They were cuts that barely made the checklist, however, I believed (and still do) that we added substantial value by doing exactly what we did with that card. Instead of getting an Ann B. Davis cut (Alice from Brady Bunch), you received an Electra/Rodman Double cut.

It cost me $1000's of dollars to do this, but overall it added value (and this has been done by numerous other companies in the past (so I wasnt breaking new ground).

I do not plan on doing this in future, as I have had mixed feedback which I am listening to.

The only time I see this happening in the future is if it allows us to bring a monster name (like Britney) to the product when she would be missing otherwise.

I hope this helps explain our thought process.
While I know you are likely to flame me on the board, I believe our thought process is solid.

I would be happy to take that card back from you and replace it with a sealed unopened pack from our customer service department (although I am not confident your pull would have more value, I know there are no "sticker cuts" in those packs)....

Let me know if that helps... BG

Can I trade my Christina Applegate for an Alice cut? Alice rocks! Loved the Brady bunch. Had a thing for Alice and her white sneakers! ;)

No I am not kidding, I really did have a thing for her.... ::facepalm::

It may not be a popular position, but an argument can be made.
The definition of a cut in this hobby has been stretched like a rubber band (beyond traditional definitions)....

With that being said, we always listen to feedback... Short of Britney or a mega-star, there should be no stickers in future cut products.... (although there may be 2 Cam in Sports Icons)...BG

I certainly respect your opinions, and you know more about making/producing and getting cards signed than I do.

However, an arguement that a sticker auto mounted to backing is a "cut" auto, is ridiculous and in my opinion for a company to take the side that it is a cut auto is lazy.

Cut auto is just that: "cut" from a document. Earlier cut autos were always from historical documents or checks. Just because a company manufactuers some checks to make it look cut doesnt change what it is: a card manufactured to look like a check. Also, most cut autos are from persons deceased.

Is there an instance where a sticker auto could be considered a "cut auto"? Sure. I could see a Cory Lidle sticker auto maybe being considered a cut, or Pat Tillman. But not people like Rodman or Electra

Seriously? Not cut from a baseball card? Or an 8X10? Or an index card?

They'll cut anything up and put it in a card and call it a cut. I am not surprised to see any company put a sticker on a piece of paper, and cut the auto out. IT IS A CUT AUTO.

It's a cheap shortcut through a loop hole, but it is what it is.

And I'm not surprised that Ty pulled it. Even if it was a 1/1, the only stickers in the whole run, somehow it would have ended up being the 1 pack that Ty bought.

Think about how little there is to differ on...

Same BGS case
Same size card
Same frame on the card
A piece of card board is framed
There is an item affixed to that cardboard that has an autograph on it.

Index card could qualify, sure.

Sorry, no one will convince me that a sticker auto will qualify as a "cut auto"

1-Stickers shouldnt be put into a cut auto product, regardless of who they are
2-Ty is hardly looking for freebies. With the amount he spends, I doubt a free pack will make or break him
3- BG is undoubtedly the most stand up executive I've ever been in contact with from any line of work, cards or otherwise.

I am sure I will take some flack for this, but whatever.

Trying pass off sticker autos as signature cuts in a cuts product is a total joke. It's garbage, plain and simple. This is coming from a company who wants to be mentioned in the same breath as Topps, UD, and Panini? It should never happen if this continues.

Here's an idea, if a product is lacking value, and you have to substitute cut autos for sticker autos....DON'T MAKE THE PRODUCT. I realize not everyone will agree with that, which is fine. I totally get it. It's not for everyone. I just seems to me like you are more concerned with lining your pockets with cash than you are putting out a quality product for your customers. You can provide the best customer service around, but if you keep putting out ****** products, you will lose more and more customers in the long run.

Damned if ya do, damned if ya dont. LOL...
Regardless, we listen. Youve all been heard.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming,

What if what you get is only a part of a sticker - removed from the rest of the sticker BY SCISSORS!?

It's easy for the company that produces the product to come and define what determines a cut - especially when they can be vague to their advantage.

Definition of a cut a stretch? No, a cut is an autograph that would have been otherwise unobtainable save for being salvaged from another signed item. Taking leftover stickers does not qualify as salvaging the signatures.

"why is my card autograph smudged"

there will be plenty to say.........
