Moon /25. s-l1600-1.jpg

Santana /10. s-l1600.jpg

Finally got one for under $25 delivered. Actually a bit more than I was hoping to pay, so I suspect they will eventually get to where I thought they should be. The "me first" frenzy is dying down with some of the Heritage product. He was apparently a tough TTM/IP auto at one point, although I believe Chris Potter had a signing with him at one point. He has a 1969 Topps Dodger rookies card which he shares with Tommy Dean and John Miller. I have a few of those, but having a certified card to go with it is cool. s-l500.png

Garvey newspaper periodical I had not seen before. s-l1600.jpg

I already had a Shelby Miller auto by the time the Dodgers picked him up, but have always liked the gold Hometown Heroes too. Made sense to buy the Miller/25. s-l1600-1.jpg

Had this already, but I like the set and limited print run cards. This is /25. Price is probably done. He was granted free agency in 2022 and has apparently not resurfaced anywhere in 2023. He didn't do the Dodgers any favors during his time in LA, with his prime being behind him already. s-l1600.jpg

Guy who has never played for the Dodgers, but has cards already. s-l1600.jpg
Had the gold, now this one of Pepiot s-l1600-1.jpg

Mostly wanted the Rhoden Rediscover. The rest were basically toss ins. Got the lot for a very reasonable $11 delivered. The rest are TTM/IP except for the Damon GU and the Carpenter (the Carpenter who wasn't all that good, not to be confused with the Carpenter who was a 3X AS and Cy Young winner who also played for the Cardinals)s-l1600-2.jpg

I find it ridiculous that my first 2023 Heritage Garvey is the Red /74. Combine the popularity of this issue with the lingering strangeness that brought untold masses of people out of the woodwork who now value Garvey as a HOF level autograph apparently? Yeah, I don't get it either, but not going to pay those "stupidity" premiums. I'll eventually get the base and hopefully the buyback auto. Maybe even the triple GU card. Garv Red Her Au.jpg

Had one already, but why not 2? /7. s-l1600-2.jpg

Then a couple TTM/IP cards, Lefebvre and Prince. Lefebvre.jpgs-l1600.jpg

New Dodger auto, if this guy makes the roster some day. Martinus.jpg

The Garvey search caught this lot of stadium photos. Garvey isn't even included, which is ironic, despite the seller saying he was. I actually don't care about that. The shipping was pricey too, but I wanted this lot. I believe this is 1968-69 and several of the photos are new additions for me, which is crazy because I have a stack of these that is about a foot tall! s-l1600-1.png

After winning and not receiving a new SC Garvey /5 auto due to a new dirtbag seller (should have known, he used Z in place of s - "Dealz" something or other) who is not no longer registered, I was happy to see this one go smoothly. Baker/Garvey /5. s-l1600.jpg

I did it again, wrote a post, but never published it!

Here is todays Dodger adds.

Dave Roberts /25. s-l1600.jpg

Lopes /65. s-l1600-1.jpg

Now Garvey and Lopes both have Heritage Red cards. Cey and Russell could be next? Would be cool for Heritage to do an infield quad Auto, assuming the line survives long enough. That card has been crying to be made, but has yet to happen. The 1977 30 HR Quad is another great theme card the Dodgers could have if made. Garvey, Cey, Smith and Baker.

I always enjoy checking this thread. That Lopes card is pretty neat.

Looks like the 2023 Finest Steve Garvey 1/1 is up on eBay now. The price seems pretty ridiculous though. The "buy it now" has got to be at least $1,000 higher than what it should be, I'm guessing.

Thank you, glad you enjoy the thread.

You are spot on. I saw that superfractor for $1200 BIN/BO. Absolute joke. The market asking price for new Garvey's has gotten out of whack. Very few cards seem to go at auction and everyone thinks they can get top $. At auction, the first few do typically sell very well because of impatient people. I have pretty much positioned myself to wait and try to get stuff at "reasonable" prices or I just don't add it. I agree, $200 for a Garvey 1/1 auto used to be high end. There were a few special cards, especially back in the early 2000s that sold for more, but most were not much over $100 if that. I am partially to blame, driving some of the auction prices up further than they should have gone to prove a point. Now I am seeing the short term repercussions.

I will add though that the finest.chrome cards and superfractors seem to have a following of their own regardless of who is pictured. I could see someone paying $300-400 for this card, possibly more, but that is foolish money that they will likely never recoup if they hope to resell some day. If the seller is reasonable, I see this disappearing before the weekend is over. There is a Garvey buyer very much willing to overpay to be first (or only) to own.

Todays Dodger additions make a nice pair.

Garvey /5 with bonus Bench and Schmidt signatures. I like this kind of card, because I collect all sorts of autographs, but it doesn't only rely on Garvey's popularity, or lack thereof.
garv Bench Schmidt 5.jpg

I bought another Pujols Dodgers auto. The guy but up Ruthian/Aaron/Mays stats, so I don't feel like this is a bad choice, especially at what felt like a bargain.

Triple signature is awesome. Two HOFers and one that should be in

Patience pays off. Wanted this card when they were new. Thought $30 was a joke, then they skyrocketed to several hundred dollars. I shouted to all that anyone buying at those prices were fools. A year plus later, I got this for about $10. You could argue very easily that I am a fool to give $10, but I really want to complete the 4 color run. Just need the gold /50. They guy who has this on ebay for $200 OBO is sportin his best "Diamond Hands" stance (just learned that from the Game Stop documentary) and I see one on COMC for about $85! HARD PASS!!! The red is /25. McKinstry 25.png

The Duke! First one is /25. Snider 25.jpgs-l1600.png

Tommy Davis team issued PC for autograph signings. s-l1600-1.jpg

I like the look of this Minor League card and Coomer is harder to find as a Dodger. This featured him as a Duke. s-l1600.jpg

My rule on new players: If their auto costs more than Bagwell or Biggio's, I'm not paying it. The odds they turn out better than either of them is almost zero.

That is a great rule. I think you are right...in the once or twice it backfires, you could have paid for the expensive auto several times over probably.

Today brings another Snider. /50. Definitely the "scrub" of the NY Trio of Willie, Mickey & The Duke in collectors minds. I don't mind. Snider 50.jpg

Bellinger seems hot at the moment, so probably timed this one well, getting it before that flame up. s-l1600.jpg

I guess this could be considered the "best" Dodger item of the day, but I am meh about these. This one is /6. Garv 74H 6.jpg

I did fiunally find one of these sets at $9.99 plus shipping. A few bucks more than what I was getting them before this year, so I bit. it was the lowest price I had seen. I gambled and asked if he had another and he did. Not loving the stupid package design that allows the cards to move around about 1" though, top to bottom, instead of having a tight blister window. Fail from the ******* who designed this package.

I have 2 unopened sets for each year they were offered going back to 2007. If anyone has any leads on sealed 2006 sets, they seem to be non-existent, but i am fairly certain they were issued. I see other teams out there. What happened to all the Dodger team sets from 2006? Dodgers Team Set x2.jpg

Finally some scrubby cards that I had scans saved because they were late, otherwise I probably wouldn't have even shared them. I assumed the Jackson was a foil flaw, but turns out it was a scan flaw and the card was perfect. Bummed about that a little, wanted the flaw.

Kiki. When these came out, he had only 1 certified auto. This was and I believe still is his only Dodger auto (certified). I really wanted one when they were new, but prices were crazy. This is my 2nd version, but the one I wanted all along with the green background. Kiki.jpg
