I once chased every unique photo of Garvey, especially signed, but realized that it was a never ended rabbit hole. I rarely buy new photos now unless something calls out to me and this was the case here. This is the same play that was used for the cover of the 1975 Dodgers Yearbook, as well as a team issued photo that is quite hard to find. Autographed by both Garvey and Winfield, I knew I had to have it.

Added another Diamond Icon /10. I have not gone to look at the checklist, but there are a variety of colored inks between the various print runs. I am sure there are more versions that I want to chase at this point, but trying to pick up unique cards where I can

Cool album I was unaware of. I saw a copy with a worn cover and then I saw this one with a much nicer cover and it was BIN/BO, but was missing the actual vinyl. I offered and they accepted. I then bid on the one with the worse cover, hoping to win it to complete mine. I lost.

Then it was shipped and the movement during transit made the inside booklet tear out from it's spot in the binding. Double gut punch!

It's still a pretty cool item despite what happened. In fact the booklet might be more appealing than the record itself.

Garvey AG /5 won before the base bat card oddly enough. Jokers were wanting $20 plus s/h for the base bat card. Seriously, WTF is happening to the selling pool. It's definitely getting overly greedy, stupid or both.
Garvey Ginter Bat 5.png
Garvey /25. There is such a thing as over doing the packaging. It's rare, but every once in a while, someone accomplishes it. I think it took me 5 minutes plus to free this from the package. Multiple layers, taped up every single possible edge and corder each time and the final envelope was so tight I was afraid I might damage the item inside if I tried to cut it open. Seems like something stupid to complain about, but somewhere in between "I don't care" and "I'm a psycho" is appreciated.

Topps Update. Have not been able to win any of the numbered versions yet, but the base auto I did.

The A&G Red Mini /5 was initially listed on ebay very high for a parallel w/o auto or relic. I offered what I felt was a fair price and was rejected. made the same offer a few times over the months that it was relisted again and again, then slowly the price began to drop each time. I am not sure how long it was listed or how many times it went unsold, but finally listed right around what I initially offered. I was the only bidder and finally secured it.
Garvey AG Red 1-5.png
That Triple Treads /25 was listed as a BIN for $5. That surprised me. Have it, probably several, but can't pass up a deal like that, especially on an older issue.

Pretty stokes about this one. It's Historic Autographs, which is a buyback company, but still a cool Auto and rookie card in a graded case. They call these Back to Backs and this is a 1/1. I see the faint outline of a Carl Erskine auto on the back of this Cox. Cox was probably one of the least well known Boys of Summer there was, but I am drawn to his stuff after finding an old beater 54 Bowman when I was a kid. Apparently he was a fantastic fielder at third for the Dodgers, not so much a hitter, but that roster was already loaded with big bats anyways.

Two others not in uniform. First is a Donruss Recollections Claudio Vargas /51. Vargas pitched 8 games for the 2009 Dodgers. 1.64 ERA in 11 innings. No decisions or saves. Then he was gone. A forgettable 8 year MLB career with that brief stop in LA.
Vargas 51 Recollection.png

Second is Bobby Morgan on a 1956 Topps, who played parts of 3 seasons in Brooklyn in 1950 & 1952-53. He was oddly very consistent across those 3 seasons, especially games, plate appearances/ABs and HRs

Garvey/Baker/Cey /4.. I don't understand why they make these cards so damn thick!? Unnecessary. This one is at least 1/8", possibly a bit larger. It's sealed, so can't accurately measure it at the moment.

Coming down to the end, with only 4 more mail days left in 2025. What goodies will i get to end off the year? We'll see.

Today brings:

Leaf MVP Auto /3 with rose, Garvey and Lynn. NL MVPs from 1973-1975.
Garvey Rose Lynn 3.png
Jersey match for this 8 relic Leaf card, 6/8. I have hated these since they debuted, no images of the players takes away a great deal from a card, but yet I still foolishly buy them, although they are worth much less to me than better cards.

Garvey 8 GU Leaf 6-8.png

What a way to sell a card, with a sticker over the face and in an old beat up top loader. Oh well. This is Matt Kemp /25
Kemp 25.png

Another Henriquez 90T auto and Albertus, who I don't believe has played for the Dodgers yet.
E Henriquez 90T.png
Albertus 299.png

Tibbs came to the Dodgers this past year. Against my gut, I continue to buy these minor leaguers in hopes of getting them ready to be crossed off the list IF/WHEN they join the big club. I have a lot of scrub autos of players who never got that call though. These were cheap off brand Leaf cards and both /49, so perhaps worth the risk if he eventually makes the majors with the Dodgers?
Tibbs 49 x2.png

My 2nd A&G bat card, my first being the red /5 version. This is the base.
Garvey AG Bat.png

Have the original painting done to make these photos (signed by both players) and a signed copy, but didn't have a plain 8x10, so grabbed this up for a buck. The shipping kills deals like this though.
GARVEY BENCH 8X10.png

Lastly, a Juan Marichal /15. I think it';s ironic that you can win a card like this for less than it would cost you to have him sign a card through the mail. He won't be around forever though, so take advantage while he is still alive and signing. I just wish someone would do a park inserted Dodger auto of him. I know he only played a few games with them, but it's been done with plenty of other players before and will be done after as well.

This one was at COMC and normally I'd go to the site, pay a little less and get it shipped with my order, but those days are likely over. I BIN and paid the shipping to get my single card. It's #66/299. An acceptable version of the "jersey" match of serial numbers for me.

I think this was a give away for one of the Pepsi Junior Dodgers clubs of the 70s. Will have to check my applications and such to see when they gave away a T.
Dodgers Pepsi Shirt.png

Finally, HOFer George L. Kelly Panini Auto. This is essentially a 3x5 card in a fancy frame and #'d /25. Kelly is one of those guys that would be laughed at now for HOF consideration, let alone inclusion, based on his stats. His final season in 1932 was spent with Brooklyn. He hit .243 in 64 games at the ripe old age of 36. Kelly died in 1984 and although his signature is fairly plentiful for a player who died that far back, having a certified autograph is only possible with a cut. I am still not entirely sold on cuts, as there is a possibility of the signature being no good AND it makes otherwise cheaper autographs much more expensive for the fancy frame and card form. I'll take it though. This one was not terribly prices.

First true Dodger autograph of the new year is a duplicate for me, but a design I really like and it was too cheap not to pass up. This might be my 4th, possibly 5th copy of this card.

Heritage (2010) with the 1961 Topps design. Furcal is /39.

I believe this is my first from the latest Archives Fan favorites issue, the 67 Lofton Green /99. They are getting harder to find at what I consider reasonable prices. Lots of no-names I don't recognize either and sadly no non-players included in this issue that I saw. Despite them being less popular than star players, I always enjoyed tracking down some of the better unusual subjects like umpires, broadcasters, journalists, etc.

Dodgers in the basic set include Edman (56), Lofton & Ryan (67), Kim (84) and Wrobleski (11). At least it's not peppered with Ohtani, Yamamoto and Sasaki, like every other issue is. They are in subsets though.

64 Stand-Ups = Park, Sasaki & Yamamoto
87 Boardwalk & Baseball = Sasaki
95 Cyberstats = Ohtani
Originals = Piazza

There is an originals Garvey on the checklist. Have not seen any surface and don't know what it is, other than maybe a buyback? No really compelling names on the list outside of Dodgers that I must have. A few guys I may pick up if they are cheap enough, but overall not an exciting year for this set and my interests/budget.

I was shocked and surprised when i found out that I never picked this card up back in my vintage Dodger chasing days. A little sad too, because I could have gotten a nice one for under $10 easily. Now they are much pricier and finding a decent looking one and have it be affordable is a trick. Seems to be lots of issues with this one.

I settled on a decent looking card with some terrible centering, but what drew me in besides the price, was the ink bleed. Campy's face appears bloodied or bruised. Actually a little eerie, as this card was issued after his accident that left him paralyzed. I enjoy print flaws and definitely don't mind this one, that put this card at $12 (plus the ever horrible shipping & tax).

The 1961 MVP cards have remained my favorite sub-set. I have them all, including 6.5 and 7 Mantles, plus Mantle, Maris and Berra autographed cards.

Won the 4 plates so needed a singed 1/1 example. Leaf probably made 30 different foil and color combo 1/1s, but I will settle for one.
