Re: "Official" Twinsfest info and news thread.

I need to get two autographs, and I want three...however the other autos in that line I don't have anything for. I'd be happy to gets something signed for a member if they want with any one of these players (otherwise I'll have them sign my calander or something, which is a waste of an auto):

Jerry White
Dan Gladden
Cole DeVries
David Derminsky
Ron Gardenhire

Morneau won't be there but Mauer is $25 plus three hours of waiting in line (most of which would be outside if to be acquired on Friday) to be guaranteed an auto. Even if you pay someone a reasonable amount at $15/hr you're talking about $70-80 for the auto. Better to try TTM for an A&G card.

Same for Saturday. I will be wearing my Gophers vs. Louisiana Tech shirt, so I won't be wearing a distinct jersey or anything like that... I will be in most prospect lines though...

Re: "Official" Twinsfest info and news thread.

I'm going on Friday and Sunday, I need Tom Kelly's autograph and he's only signing on Sunday so the decision is made for me. I'll get Steinbach's on Friday so that leaves me with the ability to spend an hour looking at dealers tables before I have to get in a line.

My Projected Autos will be:

On Minnesota Born Twins Bat: Terry Steinbach & Tom Kelly
Single Signed Ball: Jack Morris
Single Signed Ball: Jim Thome
Single Signed Ball: Kyle Gibson
Single Signed Ball: Aaron Hicks

Today's caravan brought:

Dan "The Dazzleman" Gladden 1/1 1992 Topps
Matt Tolbert 1/1 card
Danny Valencia 1/1 photo

Dan is an awesome guy... lol he was making comments about my height which got Matt and Danny into it... crazy.

So I know there are going to be a bunch of crazies that get there hours and hours before to make sure they get who they want, but I was curious. I was really wanting to grab Mauer this year but I'm thinking the only possible chance would be on Saturday. How early would you likely need to get there to grab him? Saturday starts at 9 and he signs at 11. I was going to get there and go straight into line when it opens up but how much earlier would you guess that you'd have to be there? Sorry for the long write-up, just trying to plan out if it will be at all possible for me to grab him.

For Mauer, earlier is always better. I remember the days of waiting 3-4 hours before the signing time to begin for Puckett. To get Kirby in those days, it was what you had to do. Joe is the same way now. You'd have to get there 1 1/2 to 2 hours before the doors open. Plus Joe will be in the Schwan Center, not in the Sports Hall. Those of us who are going Friday will report how it all worked out.

Thanks in advance for the report!

One of the guys who has a table at the show is a relative of mine... not relative to any discussion, but he does private signings with many of the higher end guys. I am going to try and get in contact with him. I think it would be fun to see what he does.

Yeah the more and more I think about it I'm thinking I won't be getting him, this year at least. I will be there all 3 days so I will be able to see how it looks, but I'm just making my last minute plans.

It was last year or a couple years ago, I was going to get Killebrew... yeah... I looked at the line and kept walking.

I remember the days where the lines would have 2-3 people in it... if only that were true today.

Mauer is the type of guy that you know will always be here, even after he retires, and we're still here plating with cards. So even though I have a few things I wouldn't mind having him sign, he's never a top priority. Guys who I know who won't be around for long--Thome--are more important to get to me.

Exactly what I have been thinking. I am for sure gonna grab Thome this year. The only auto I have for Mauer is a 2004 Topps card that I got back when he first joined the team when I was a kid. That's the main reason I want to get something else, but I suppose I can always take a chance at Spring Training too.

I'm not going to be able to make it this year, to much going on. If anyone is willing to scout the floor for Mauer cards #'ed 7/xx for me I'd appreciate it.

I could either give you my number or if you get contact info from the dealer I could contact them later.

Re: "Official" Twinsfest info and news thread.

I figured I would bump this to the first page since we are starting today.

As for us, it seems less and less likely that we will go... which is too bad. We have $58 into 3 tix (which isn't too bad, but we bought 2 from the Twins and one off ebay for $40). EVERYONE IS SICK! My dad is home sick, my sister is home sick, and I am not feeling the best either. I am in online school so it doesn't matter too much to be "home sick" except when tomorrow is the big day...

I suppose we can go on Sunday too... There is a lot more on this trip than "just another day at TwinsFest" so it's important that we go.

ANYWAY, if any of you guys get Perk's IP auto any of the days, and don't need it, let me know and we can work some sort of deal for it. Same with Knudson (unless on an EEE card).

Overextending yourself at the Caravan! 8-) Try to rest, and go Sunday. You'll kick yourself if you skip it altogether. Heading out later this morning, hoping to get there around 1:30-2:00. Still haven't decided what I'm doing yet.
