Not sure if it applies, but it would be in good taste to offer to send back anything you got "more" then you should have, according to the stated odds

TBP, I understand your point. I didn't even think about making the call until multiple people in this thread asked if I was going to. I can at least have a conversation, does that make me a bad person? And the only thing that I pulled more than I was supposed to was two RED refs and I was supposed to hit 1.45 of them, something like that. Not sure why there is always criticism about calling customer service and see what they have to say. If they tell me to pound sand, I wouldn't hold that against them. But they do have those people in place, and their policies in place for a reason.

Skrip, sorry to hear about the cases man. Hopefully, you can make something back on the auctions. I haven't busted a case in over a year, because I've been kicked in the nuts one too many times too.

Nothing wrong with making a phone call! I think it always helps your case as it puts a voice to an actual customer and as long as one is polite and clearly gets the point across, it's amazing what good things can happen sometimes. Good luck and let us all know how it turns out!

With all of the bad stuff, maybe he just.. forgot. Or having that in there would mean people would be saying "at least you got...".

I will trade that in for a gold or orange ref auto, or the 5 blue autos i was shorted any day. It is what, a $20 card at best? Maybe a bit more since it is the first one but the ones from bowman chrome sell for $10, nothing like making a FAKE PATCH tough to pull.

A fake logo that sold for $30...yea that offsets the $5600 plunge...

I wasn't supporting your comment, just making a naked gun reference joke!!!

It's worth making the call....Please let us know if Topps does anything....Scrip, this could be great PR for Topps, let them know....You will lose on these cases but maybe topps can close the gap a little and this will show everyone on the boards that Topps is willing to help out collectors when they get a break that is lower than the odds.....I mean I doubt it, but who knows...

For the curious like me, total of all ended auctions was around $2150. Highest sale was $84.

Was that all 2010 BCDP?
How much is asking value on remaining?
Anything of any value not listed he is holding?

I held back about 15 autos, about $250 worth. Still have the players lots to list tommorow, but did sell a posey bowman lot, and all my stras lots already.

See, there's the point over there. You've completely missed it.

Apparently, from what I can tell after this 11 page rant/sobfest, Matt is upset that he didn't get cards meeting the stated odds.

That being said, he pulled a card that, by the odds, he shouldn't have gotten.

It works both ways.

Just like you don't expect a gold refractor in every box you buy, you can't expect equal collation of gold autos and orange autos and blue autos in every case you buy. 8 cases, in the big scheme of things, isn't that much.

Jeff,

Why would you say this an 11 page sobfest/rant? I didn't even post from page 3-9. It took on a life of it's own. I understand what you are saying about the collation and agree with you.

The life of it's own is my point.

Honestly, I think your original post was a little melodramatic.

It's not a hobby for you when you buy 8 cases and immediately flip everything. It's a business. If it was a hobby, value wouldn't count.

I can understand this post if a hobbyist bought 3 boxes of bowman chrome and got nothing but a few topps 100 /999s and no refractors anda few lousy base autos.

Thanks Jeff, but your opinion of the hobby, and if it is my hobby or a business really mean nothing to me. Thanks for your input, but I really don't want it or need it. I have a ton of stuff that I will never sell. I did flip a bunch of stuff, but really didn't intend to. I did keep some stuff for my collection. Again, I really have no reason to explain myself to you and I don't see the need for you to categorize me one way or another.

You also no very little about me, have never met me, or can speak to my character. Where as many on these boards can speak to some things in your past that might categorize you.

Feel free to respond, but I will leave it at that will respond no further. Also feel free to let the thread die....that is fine by me.

And here we go.

What I can tell is that you come here, last year, crying about losing your job and not being able to afford baseball cards. A year later, you're bragging about the fact that you can afford to spend $5600, and are bitching about being punked out by Topps' collation, crying like a little girl that you have to sell your prospect stash to pay your credit card bills.

Meanwhile, a large portion of this board doesn't have the funds to open 8 cases, 4 cases, 2 cases, or even a case, and it's hard for them to feel bad because you didn't get enough blue refractors to break even.

You don't see Warren Wolk, or other card shop dealers, coming on here and bitching about Topps and how their business is suffering because of Topps' actions.

I know what I see.

That is terrible mathematical logic.

These odds are essentially independent. There's a tiny amount of cross-over, just based on the spot the card takes in the pack, but other than that, the odds are completely independent. This isn't a game of "beating the odds" vs. "not beating the odds"

If the odds of a card X are 1 in 4 packs, and the odds of card Y are 1 in 5000 packs; pulling card Y in no way affects card X other than the fact that it could possibly take up card X's spot.

As I've said, I don't even know if Matt has a gripe, but for the love of God: Do some damn math.

We have 2304 Packs (i think.)

We remember our 11th great statistics courses, right?

I cannot believe that people are using such awful logic to support their arguments.
