Barry Bonds comes to mind....he and Albert have the same size head too.

God damn you are an idiot.

yeah if I had tons of Pujols cards I would be riding his jock and calling naysayers idiots too. You probably have a nice
Bonds collection also!

More proof of my previous point.

I collect cards, I just don't buy much anymore. But I don't have anything of Pujols but some base and a few inserts.

Real question is what will hurt more??
Losing Pujols or losing Luhnow to the Stros?
Also who was the "mystery team" ?? Cubs?
For my answer I think Luhnow. IMO he has done a great
job as scouting director.

I agree, long term Lunhow is a bigger loss. Look at the contributions the team got from the farm this year. All drafted and developed under his watch.

Interesting Article on CNN about how he treated his fans and Cardinals employees.
Personally I hate that my Rangers will have to face him more often, but I am not that scared
I think the Rangers are going to be the better team over the next 10 years.
I am disappointed that he took the money and ran, would have been nice to see at least one HOF type
player not get busted for Roids or stay with one team in my generation.
Makes you wonder what the real offers the Cardinals put
out there for him wasn't there a rumor he was being offered a share of the franchise?
Hopefully him and CJ turn out to be as good a signing as Torri Hunter and Vernon Wells where for the Angels.

If I was a Cardinal fan I would be sad; there no is no doubt about it. To watch a player that will go down as one as the all-time greats for a decade, then he leaves for the most money. But as stated: baseball is a business at the end of the day. I do not blame the Cardinals for not giving Pujols all that money. As for the Angels this was a great move for in the now. five or six years down the line they are going to be kicking themselves.

Eventually they will be giving a 40-year-old Pujols 25 million dollars and who knows how his production will be. A man named Dan Szymborski used the ZiPS system to project Pujols' numbers over the span of his 10 year contract.

All I can say is after year-five he isn't worth 25 million to me. But that is just my two-cents.

Guess it was lost during the server move, but I had mentioned that Pujols moving teams only helps the comparisons I've held him to for most of his career: Jimmie Foxx.

Frank Robinson was traded, Albert just left.

There is no comparison, especially when you throw in the fact that the franchise was coming off a WS Championship.

My motto for the last 36 hours:
Good for Albert
Good for Cardinals Nation
Concern for Angels Nation

I'm sure they can eat the $$$$$$$$$$, but they HAVE to have a WS in 3-5 years.

It would be awesome if they don't win a WS and can't afford to resign Trout....who then signs with the Cardinals. I'm sure our 12th and 13th WS victories since Alberts departure will show him that we are a winning franchise!!

The Cardinals should have paid Albert whatever it took to keep him. This is the biggest mistake in the history of the organization. How do you let the best player of the last decade walk? I'd be pissed if I were a Cardinal fan. Talk about World Series hangover; you guys are going to look at your 2012 line-up and feel like you're in the movie 'Hangover'.
Prince may end up the consolation prize.

No.
No.
I don't see how offering 10 years/220 Million relates to "Let Walk."
Just disappointed.
Hangover? If you can look at our lineup and say that, you probably only casually follow baseball. #welcomebackWainwright
Don't want him.

This post cracked me up a few days ago and it still does.

If STL really wanted him, they would've made a better offer or upped the ante. But they didnt and he took more money elsewhere.

St. Louis fans can only be pissed at the Cardinals organization? Tell me you are joking, please...

I'm happy with the organization and very excited for the next era in Cardinals baseball. The Cardinals stepped up their offer to 10/220+, they can't help it that a team decided to overpay for a 3-5 year window.

Cardinals fans shouldn't be mad about anything...they should be excited for the last 11 years and excited for 2012 and beyond.

I believe that when Albert's decline happens, which could very well be soon if he isn't as old as he claims, will regret the decision to leave St. Louis. I think that when the Los Angeles media start grilling him over and over if he isn't hitting, that he will regret his decision to leave St. Louis.

In St. Louis, Albert was beloved, and had built up so much good will, that the fans and organization would have stuck by his side no matter what. Now, with leaving to go elsewhere, there is no good will built up, and they WILL boo him if he fails to live up to their standards. Which wouldn't have happend in St. Louis. Albert's already a surly guy, and I can see him becoming even more so if and when that happens. And the media will turn on him becaues he already doesn't care for the media. He had it made in St. Louis. Everyone walked on egg shells around him, nobody wanted to ruffle his feathers, but now all of that is thrown out of the window and he's become just another Latin baseball player in the Major Leagues.

He won't be the same Albert Pujols outside of St. Louis. Yes, he may still be productive for years to come, but the Albert since 2001, he's long gone.

I kinda hope Pujols goes all Mo Vaughn on the Angels, maybe it will teach these teams about stupid long term contracts to decling aging veterans.
