Question regarding bat grip

I just picked up a couple of bats for Alie at the flea market, and the grips are pretty trashed. If any of you have experience with this, would this be something where i just use some electrical tape and rewrap it, or do i need to go out and spend extra for replacement grip tape at a sports store?

I used tennis grip tape on my great nephews aluminum bat. works good.
