This one is slightly less PUMPED UP than the RED CRUSADE. But hey, it's still worthy. The 2002 Topps Chrome Black Refractor team card.

Not surprisingly this was kinda hard to find. Not only is it #/ed to 50, but because it's a team card it could be listed under the team name, the card number, or any number of star players featured therein. Thome? Ramirez? Sabathia? Alomar? Yeah. But at long last, it's home where it belongs...

The last 2 months have been pretty darn for adding to the old PC. And now a supercollector from PR is selling out. He's got some insane cards, and I will have to be selective about what I buy. If I can, that is. Lots of other Alomar collectors are snapping stuff up left and right. But I did get a handful in the mail yesterday, including some notable ones.

First on the list is this one: 1998 Pacific Aurora Pennant Fever Copper /20. Not quite the white whale that the Red Crusade was, but pretty close in my book. Here's the entire rainbow!

Ja girlies! Hear me now and believe me later! Get out of your flab hammocks and acknowledge ze pumpitude!

Steven Seagal has some work to do to recognize, you know. He has become so flabby and untalented and lame in his old age.

Wow niiiiice. 😇 No refractor lines or anything. How did I miss this one? Great whale, I guess you can now die a happy fulfilled man. (y)

Did you get a good deal?

Thanks guys!

The Crusade red auction ended up around $350. Which was an absolute bargain IMHO. As the auction ended I expected it to jump up to $400, $500, and well beyond. But it didn't and I had to rub my eyes...

Another little run I was happy to get completed (minus two 1/1's of course). The 2003 Donruss Timeless Treasures Past & Present series. Last one I needed was the "Patches" version /20.

Great deal with the way prices have been going up. Why did I sell my Mo Vaughn red a few years ago? I guess I still have the Tejada red.

So you have a full rainbow now right? How many purple/greens do you have??

And now for something completely different

Actually, it's a few of the more humorous Alomar cards in my collection...

1994 Upper Deck SP Die Cut. Homie is talking on a cell phone...and not one of these little black mirrors we carry around now. It's a real 90's cell phone baby!

I remember in high school a buddy of mine had an Oldsmobile Toronado we used to cruise around in and cause trouble. For some reason he had a cell phone in it. One day he called me and said hey, do you want to hang. I said sure. So he told me to look out my window. Sure enough, this wanker was sitting there propped up out of the sun roof, talking to me on his 90's cell phone. Off we went...

Here's one from 2005. The Playoff Absolute Memorabilia Changing Stripes issue. There are a bunch of parallels but this one is the base. Notable because it features not one but two really not-flattering pictures of the homes. One looks like he's grinking out a giant turd, and the other looks like he's complaining about a call or whatever.

I firmly believe that card designers choose photos on purpose. If you see a bad one, it's on purpose. And if you see TWO bad ones on a single card, it's really on purpose.

This one you've certainly seen before, because Donruss printed about twenty billion copies. I will give them credit, because they were the only manufacturer to recognize this guy's potential enough to include him in their regular 1988 set. Everyone else had him in their Traded or Update sets.

But it's notable because during his Mets tenure, there was a kerfluffle about his teammates posting this card on his locker. He got angry about it, and there were words. All of that was a little unfair, to be honest. He was probably 19 when this picture was taken, looking all innocent with that silly trying-to-look-older moustache. There was even an article in the NYT about it:

Now this atrocity. 1993 Sports Art Images Promo. I used to do pencil drawings in my teens and early twenties, and although I was never good enough to call myself an artist, I was a damn sight better than this!

Ever thought you needed a little more of Robbie's taint and/or camel-toe in your life? In Dufex? Well yearn no more.

Sun's out, guns out!

But seriously folks, what is he wearing here? A sleveless serrape? I dunno. It's different. And I love this card. This Ray Ban promo is *extraordinarily* rare. I got my copy in the 90's, and I've only seen one or two since.

2016 Topps Archives 5x7 Gold. This is the Cheech and Chong issue. Hey man, you wanna get high?

OK one more. The 2003 Playoff Prestige Xtra Points Green.

A census taker once tried to question me. I ate his liver with some fava beans, and a nice chianti. ffff. ffff. fff. ff. ff.
