Juan Gonzalez and Mo Vaughn were both tied to PED abuse. Belle wasn't. I don't even see how they are in the same discussion.

Who here on twitter wants to ask a voter whether or not they take into consideration a player's overall career stats or a player's performance during a certain era when voting for the hall?
I'm basing my arguement on the fact that I'd say writers look more at overall career stats rather than how a player performed during a time period when voting and you guys are saying that they should base their vote on how he dominated during the 90's.
I'd be interested to see what one or a few of them say
Look at Mays last 6 years. His numbers SUCKED! so he is not a HOFer? Look at Pujols 1st 10 years, awesome. look at him now. He could fall way off. If you look at alot of HOFers they have a great 10 year stretch. Thats the norm.
It has nothing to do with "90s" and everything to do with "when the player played". Albert Belle was never NOT a top-of-line elite hitter while being a full time player. Ever. That is the argument I believe his supporters are trying to make.
Yup, for instance he only finished 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, 7th over a four year stretch with four silver sluggers - this despite the negative points he received for his attitude (compare his 2nd place finish to Vaughn's first place finish). That doesn't signify an elite hitter
Huh?
For those of you in favor of Belle's induction, where do you stand on Edgar?
As far as Edgar, it all depends on if the writers want to "allow" the DH into the HOF. If they do, Edgar will be the first DH in, followed by Harold Baines (vet's committee) and David Ortiz. Would not surprise me if neither of those three did not make it as well, and I would be okay with that.
Oritz still has time to put himself ahead of Edgar though.
If you want my personal opinion, I can't stand him. Not just for his attitude before he became Albert, but because he is the main reason there are no more exhibition games between the MLB parent club with the AAA club. He felt he needed the day off and did not feel he needed to even make an appearance to thank the minor league team for giving these guys the step up to the big leagues...
"Man's Game," do you have the 2012 Gypsy Queen black bordered mini of Albert? I've got one that you can have if you don't.

Edgar had about the same or less than Belle's HR/RBI totals... but it took Edgar about 50% more time to get to those totals.
Aside from that, DHs need to be (much?) better hitters than anyone else.

The Tribe played an exhibition game last year against their AAA Clippers in Columbus. It was snowed out, but they scheduled and attempted to play the game.
