Anyone here win this one?

WillClarkBatBarrell.jpg

It blew by my bid early in the evening before closing at $761.00. Nice auction for the seller, and a great card for the buyer.

Would a 1994 Score Rookie traded Sample card of Clark be worth putting on ebay?

It probably wouldn't have brought much two years ago, but these days...who knows?

I too, had the barrell on my watch list, but went for about twice what I would have bid on it, so I basically had no chance. The laundry tag card is sweet, but I'm sure it will do much the same thing at the end and go higher than it should. If I could just win Powerball, I wouldn't have to worry about how much the cards were gonna go for :)

I was willing to go high on that but decided not to bid.

I've got some nice Prime Patches extras and I *think* 2 or 3 of the laundry tag cards.

Doubtful it would go for more than a buck or so. It comes up for auction quite often. I've got a handful of them.

I sold for 450/500 ish the first time so it didn't surprise me much.

There seem to be some new Clark collectors on E-Bay as of late, or maybe older collectors that I'm not familiar with. Either way they sure are driving the prices through the roof. I used to pick up STAR promos pretty cheap and now they are commanding $50-$80 a piece.

I know! What sucks is that I still need a few of those regional magazine & postcard sets. What should be $5 to 10 each are $50 to $150 right now. I guess I'll ride the wave of craziness and just wait to pick mine up. No hurry. I'll get them eventually!

I bought one loose about a year ago for $3, got a magazine as a freebie in deal about 6 months ago. I just don't understand the frenzy now, great for the seller, but it just doesn't make sense to me. I mean 3 people bid over $100 for that card. I sold a printing plate 1 of 1 for $100, barely, only got 1 bid in a 6 day auction. You might even find the entire magazine on E-Bay without mention of the cards for pretty cheap as well.

Here's a nice looking card. I sort of wish it was in color, but looks great either way.

Love that card, tough to find in the Beckett checklist though have to look up multi-spots cards.

I know they are tough as nails so I am going 107.87 and I bet that 93 Pinnacle Cooperstown Promo
goes for close to that also?
Clarkfan do you have a 92 Benbakery square Griffey or a 92 DK Jumbo Thomas?

I don't think I have any of the squares other than Clark ones. Never seen any extras of those DK Jumbos. I'd love to see what a Thomas would go for though. The Clark will sell for high enough. The Thomas collectors would surely fight over theirs just like the Clark collectors.

I put the super DK on my watchlist for fun. I'm sure glad I don't have to search for mine any more, thanks to Drew. I just noticed again that the seller lives in the same town I work in. I wonder if I've ever run into him before?

How much was the Butler? Was there a lot of competition for it or was it a buy it now??

Funny how the Butler came into my collection. Jim Kramer over at Southpaw Sports (a great oddball resource btw) had it listed on his site for six years or so for $50. All that time, I wouldn't have dreamt of shelling out that kind of coin for any Butler card, especially one that Beckett had listed at $2. I got to know Drew over on CU, and one day he PMs me to tell me about seeing the card and I should jump all over it. I told him there ain't no way I'm paying that much because 'blah, blah, blah' - his response was basically, 'if you don't, you'll regret it - you may never see one of those again cuz they're stupid rare'. So I contacted Jim and swung a deal for the '92 Super, plus some other hard to find parallels for $55 delivered.

Long story short, there was no competition for the card (which is isn't surprising - I'm basically the only guy out there collecting Butler). As soon as I'm tempted to think I overpaid, I remind myself of the Clark & Thomas collectors who would kill to find a '92 Super, and the fact that in 15 years of collecting Butler, this is the only copy I've ever seen. I've heard it said there may have only been 10 copies of each card produced and that a great many collectors think the number is even less. Wouldn't surprise me to hear only a couple copies of each are out there.

Don't forget the Ripken collectors :)
