Maybe the Red Sox should bring back coco to teach Youk how to properly charge the mound, at least he held his own vs Shields.

The pitch to Youk looked intentional. Porcello threw a 2-seamer that runs and he basically started it right at him. That said, whatever suspension Bob Watson hands Porcello the suspension to Youk has to be longer for charging AND the punk *** move of throwing his helmet at Porcello.

I'm not entirely sure that it was intentional. It would make more sense to do it later on in the game when you are getting up in the pitch count. Not right after your team gets beaned. Either way it sucks. I doubt Porcello would have given up as many runs the way he looked, and has looked his last few outings.

Even though the Tigers lost the game, they should be happy that this happened. Remember how the Rays united and caught fire as a team after their brawl with Boston last year?

I don't like the Tigers or Red Sox as I'm a Twins fan. Porcello flat out through Youk to the ground, no doubt. Watch it slow motion or normal speed. You can clearly see Porcello turns, plants his foot, and wrenches his hips and slams Youk to the ground. It wasn't Youk's momentum that brought them to the ground.

I'll step in, as an obviously bias party.

I think it is hard to say whether the pitch was intentional or not. Out of context (ie, what had happended prior to that), I would have said it was a case of a young pitcher losing control of the ball. However, the pitcher is responsible for each pitch he sends down, both the good, the bad, and the errant. So it really shouldn't be suprising to Porcello that this happened in a game where tensions were already high.

As for the fight, I think it is kind of irrelevant, but I'll throw this out: anyone here who knows a little about fighting (has done some as opposed to watching UFC or WWE Raw on his couch), knows that getting someone on the ground isn't that hard. Knowing what to do with them when you get them there is the hard part. Don't be naive and think that Porcello, a talented young pitcher (no argument here. I think he has a great future ahead of him), "kicked Youk's ass" just cause he landed on top.

As for the "Youkilis is a bitch/POS/punk" posters, maybe try to articulate a point next time, instead of unoriginal, 3 word, trash talk (at least read what previous posters already said, so you don't sound like a repetitive taint).

Either way, I wish the fight hadn't happened, cause neither team can afford to lose productive players right now. The Sox are in a fight to keep in the Division and wild card race, and Detroit can't afford to lose that two game lead.

Getting someone on the ground may not be hard if you have momentum, but I think it was impressive for Porcello to take Youk to the ground since he had none at all. And I would say it's hard to take someone down if they outweigh you as well. But maybe I'm just hyping this moment for Porcello since I'm not a fan of Youkalis at all :D

ok, i will elaborate on why he is a bitch

he is a tremendous *********, his batting stance makes him look like a flamboyant ***, he is ugly as sin, he thinks he is way better than he is (or gives off that vibe), he plays on the red sox, i could go on and on

I see where you are coming from. Porcello moved perfectly for the situation, taking Youk's momentum and using it against him. In actuality, Youk's greater weight and momentum actually worked against him. But it was all for naught, since Porcello went down with him. If he had stayed on his feet, or thrown Youk down and then jumped on him it would have been more impressive. As it is, he went to the ground with him, where he elimated his one advantage, which is his height.

pujolsnet, wow. You manage to say so much, without saying anything at all. Really quite an impressive statement. He gives off a "vibe"? What, are you dating him? My wife gives off "vibes" sometimes, but I actually am around her. You don't like his batting stance? That's fine, but what the hell does that have to do with him being a "bitch"? And the fact that he is "ugly" to you is kind of strange. I don't generally evaluate a player's skill on the field by how attractive I find him.

To each his own.

Agree with you there/ Porcello should have taken advantage of his reach and gotten some jabs in

You are right. The helmet thing wasn't cool. But I'd be pissed too after taking the kind of heat Porcello throws in the back. But you are right, the helmet was uncalled for.
