was wondering whats the scoop on this?

Was told today that Beckett wont grade any (especially Freeman, Heyward, Porcello) without first going through JSA because of all the fakes out there.

I guess I missed it but I hadnt really heard much about this.

So when buying an ungraded copy, whats the best way to tell if its fake?

I haven't heard of any fakes, but rather people doctoring--or "filling in" the signatures. There are so many of these cards where the ink was very streaky as most people probably know.

I submitted a Porcello a while back and it came back "altered" because someone at some point had filled in the streakiness of the auto to make it look better.

These cards obviously bring higher sales if you have a nice, solid signature versus the crappier auto's that so many of these cards had due to the ink not flowing well on the surfaces of these cards. Thus, the slimeball cardboard crooks have struck yet again.

I think this may be the main reason they have to go through Spence, but I imagine that fake auto's on regular AFLAC cards are a problem as well.
