This museum idea thus far stinks of elitism. Just keep stuff the way it is there really is no need for it at all. No one needs people to vote on cards, its reminiscent of the beckett hall of fame or what ever that garbage was. All it lead to was people feeling shafted and a few feeling elite.

BTW I voted no on accidents so +1 yes cause I love Ryan cards.

I wonder if this is the overall sentiment of the NO crowd?

If so, the NO crowd is taking it way too serious and the YES crowd just wants to look at cool cards and understands there has to be some set of qualifications...

Basically you are right adam.

Better cards should be showed off. Elitism? This is a message board on the internet, if you dont like it and feel bad, get off. And if you really feel bad because of the internet get a better life. And I voted yes on accident, so that cancels out nyc's thing.

I never gave a crap but it lead to hostility as this thread has already proven. People are getting offended when their card isnt considered hof fame worthy and others need to point this out, which equals elitism.

the museum I feel should just be 1/1's and other rare moderns (like low numbered buttons, barrels that are out of 2-6, and logo patches that are numbered to 6 or lower, and other nice cards), thats what the modern player collector collects, musuem it

disagree.

then what should be in it? Do you really want a museum where everyone gets there best cards in it? Do you really want a museum to look at not so rare cards and cards almost anyone can obtain anytime they want? I know I dont.

I know i dont want to see a bunch of 1/1 stickers or superfractors.

Anyway, so what about the idea for the submitter to do a poll? Is that a good idea? That way it shows a concensus of the board members opinions.

How many categories will there be?

I suggest we have one category just for superfractors, one for GU, one for on-card autos.

I also hope we all agree NO STICKERS?
But surely if this is for all types of cards, then we must include those as well? I see no reason to abandon the bastard child, for when done correctly, they can be just as beautiful as on-cards.

The dual yes, but that Sterling no way. When a card is worth less than the box it came from there is a problem. Dont get me wrong its a nice card and i wouldnt mind owning it but not for this proposed museum.

how much is a box? THe last one sold for over $300.

The thing that makes it awesome in my mind is that it shows the ALL TIME STRIKEOUT RECORD.

really? i always thought his autos from that set sold in the $150 range. i stand corrected then.

Well if they really feel bad, they simply need to get a better life. People know when one card is better than another and if people really feel that bad that their card isnt worthy, save up or stop collecting.

Your idea of a poll is fine. And may I point out that I asked for suggestions and I took all of them very well, please take my opinions on your cards (since you did ask) in a manner, a little less hostile ;)

I asked for suggestions and every suggestion has went over very well.

There are some cards that we wouldn't need a poll for. The person could just post the picture and a description and that would be it...these would be the cards that meet the agreed (clearly a work in progress) upon qualifications.

I agree that those cards should be included miggy but i dont think any bat barrel or any logoman should be included. Clemente barrel? YES, Miggy barrel? No

No stickers unless accompanied by a GU patch or better and a true 1/1 or accompanied by a logo, barrel, etc serial numbereing doesn't matter.

99% of 1/1 cards are simply forced rarity variations of common cards. The scarcity is totally manufactured and therefore not "museum-worthy."

Why would some not need a poll?? I disagree with that...why have a comittee, the committee may be biased or particular to one type of card. I personally would vote no for just about all superfractors, unless they were like Braun or Hanley or top dogs. A poll should be mandatory before any card gets in.

As far as HOSTILE, no hositility intended...I was just commenting that there are probably lots of people that would rather have a 1/50 on-card than a 1/1 sticker. 1/1 should carry little weight. A lot of 1/50s are locked up and you won't see them, where many 1/1 stickers are boring and ugly and have little admiration by those that realized the sticker was probably signed 5 years before the card was produced.

I dont know I feel any barrel should be included or any logo patch. Those are the cards modern day player collectors highly covet.

1/1 seems to be the glarring issue. Perhaps this was an error on my part and there is a huge segment that falls under the 1/1 category that wouldn't be Museum worthy.

I agree.

well only true 1/1's should be in
plates suck
m and m reds are not true 1/1's
DK is not true 1/1's
the sp authentic game dated cards are not true 1/1's

a bunch of others arnt

i would even say triple threads platinum 1/1's are not true 1/1's (except the patch versions)

I would probably vote a miggy barrel in if it didnt have a sticker auto, AND if it had a sweet design. Too much foil imho takes away. Miggy is one of the best current players, so some of his best current stuff should get in.

Surely we can agree that this board could come up with a certain set of qualifications that could make the voting process un-needed for clearly Museum worthy cards, correct?

If Gilmore posted the thread right now and the owner of the Mickey Mantle TT Knob came in and posted it, would you scream to have it removed until a vote could be conducted?

I'd agree, i would say an 09 sweet spot miggy barrel should not make it in, horrible design and numbered way too high.

1/1 should have NO, ZERO bearing on if a card gets in. Each card should be voted on its own.

I would not vote ANY plates, VERY FEW STICKER autos, or any 1/1 that looks just like another non 1/1, with just slight deviation.
