I would love to know what everyone in this thread who is bashing Bumgarner was doing at 19. My guess is wacking off in their college dorm room to Beavis and Butthead episodes. The kid is 19 year old in the MAJOR LEAGUES.

I was in jail avoiding bubba.

Not too bad so far. I have a feeling the Giants are pitching him pretty conservately. That with the fact he pitched an inning a couple days ago i doubt he has many strikeouts tonight.

how does his breaking stuff look?

cant wait to see him bat. he is a REALLY good hitter

and that is why he is the most overrated prospect in the minors.
ok ya having a 1.85 ERA at age 19 is overrated.

88-90 MPH fastball with no 2nd pitch. Sounds like a Jon Niese type pitcher.

he took some nice cuts. Definitely didn't look like a "pitchers" swing.

Anyone expecting 8 ip, 1 er, 0 bb, 10 k's is crazy. I think the kid looks good tonight for his MLB debut. I don't expect him to dazzle. Just do his job and put his team in a position to win. His time to shine will come, this is just a precursor to a potentially stellar career.

FIRST K!

Krukow(the announcer) keeps saying how Bmgarner looks like he is throwing "tight" and i agree, i think once his nerves settle a bit more i think his stuff will get better and better

Have you ever seen him pitch?

He has a change up and a slider. He throws harder than 88 MPH. He has a much higher ceiling than Jon Niese

He has a slider and changeup but they aren't even average pitches yet.

The traveling and the fact he hasn't had the usual rest is probably effecting his speed.

And whoever asked about the curveball, he had a nice sweeping curveball for strike 1 to adrian.
