I love it! Not only as an alumnus but also because I know how hard it is for Ivy League teams to compete due to league rules. As a matter of principle, none of the Ivy League teams offer athletic scholarships in any sport. That's in addition to the rigorous academic standards.
The men's hockey team is currently ranked #7 in the country. Can't wait to see what they do in the NCAA hockey tourney.

I always thought that's what made teams either division 1 or 2. Interesting.
What division a school is in seems to be entirely arbitrary. There are some REALLY big DIII schools, and some really small DI schools. I find the direction a school chooses to be quite interesting.
EDIT: I just looked up the rules on NCAA.org. According to their table every school that's at least DI has to give out $964,700 in scholarships (BCS schools have to pay out 4 mil). Even DII schools are required to give $250,000 in scholarships. However, it is also true that the Ivy League doesn't offer athletic scholarships. So I guess they must be grandfathered in or something.
