Re: Top Tier HOF...the Greatest of the Great

I would like to nomminate Bob Feller based on where he ranked in the leaugues at the time he was pitching. Did you know he has the fastest recorded pitch in MLB history at 107.9 MPH

If you think Feller is teir 2 or so, then I nomminate Rod Carew

Feller was the best and most feared pitcher of that era. I would put him in the top tier....how about Warren Spahn??

How about the greatest 3rd baseman of all-time, Brooks Robinson?
hmm...personally i think Alex Rodriguez has surpassed Brooks at this point...or will very soon. i think #1 is Schmidt. i don't know though...it's close.
and what about Wade Boggs or Homerun Baker or Jimmy Collins or George Brett?
anyone else want to chime in on the Brooks debate?

Joe D. over Ted Williams. Although Williams may have been a better hitter, Joe D. was widely considered the better all-around player.

i probably agree. i love Williams though. but you are right...DiMaggio MUST be on the "team". i'll probably reshuffle some positions to make him fit. like C...i'm not sure Bench, or any other catcher for that matter, is one of the top 25 in baseball history.

Johnny Bench at Catcher.

For those dogging Pete Rose, he is the All-Time Hit King. Obviosuly he was able to do it for a long period of time. That aside, my favorite thing about Rose was how hard he played the game. I will never forget watching him run, not walk, but run to 1st after being walked. He gave everything he had every game. There are a lot of players that could learn something from him.

Joe,
My point was there are many other hitters I would take over him. And yes, he is not in the HOF so he shouldn't even be in this thread.
