Re: OFFICIAL- Vintage Pickup Thread.

I'm really enjoying all of the old cards!
Another card to add to my old Yankees arrived today.
(Uh, oh ThoseBackPages, I've must have caught your bug, because I just purchased three vintage cards that are not Yankees. Plus another Mantle! I'll show them off as they arrive.)

Very nice, Jay!

Great clarity on that image :)

Great point about the base, Danny. If you ever had to go head first in to first base back in the day, that style seems much safer.

A St. Louis Browns example for my N172 project arrived today:

Re: OFFICIAL- Vintage Pickup Thread.

A little something different today.
I'd been using the 1993 Upper Deck Heroes of Baseball cards for TTM autographs, which made me want an original. Here are the two of three 1912 T202 Hassan cards that arrived today.
My first Denton T. Young!!! You probably know him better as Cy. He's pictured with John Kling on the left and Hans Lobert sliding safely into the bag in front of Kling in the center photo.

This card was an impulse buy, because it was in such good shape, I liked the blue color around the players and I found out that it was Naps Lajoie (HOF) batting. William Bergen on the left, A Great Batsman (Lajoie) in the center and Cy Barger on the right.

Re: OFFICIAL- Vintage Pickup Thread.

I agree on the T-202's, great looking cards. I only have a few, sometimes I think they are somewhat underappreciated by collectors.

Dano, the blue T202 looks great and any time I see a card with Cy Young I think of a lady I used to teach with who grew up next to "Old Cy" and for years never knew he played baseball when he was younger.

Great pickups by everyone!

Re: OFFICIAL- Vintage Pickup Thread.

My other 1912 Hassan T202 arrived today.
It has Mordecai Brown (HOF), George Graham and the Athletic Infield on it. The infield consisted of Jack Barry, Frank (Home Run) Baker (HOF), Harry Davis and Eddie Collins (HOF).

I'm most excited about another Mantle for my Mantle/Yankees collection, a 1953 Bowman Color SGC 50.

Re: OFFICIAL- Vintage Pickup Thread.

ThoseBackPages ....Thanks for the kind words.
I'm kinda partial to your 1961 pickups, especially the McCovey. I remember thinking in 1961 (and now) that the colors around the player and team names looked darker/richer on the high number cards.
