Can't believe it has almost been 4 years for this thread. it is a nice turn back the clock, and perhaps a more disturbing look at the amount of $ I continue to spend on this hobby...and this is just Dodger related stuff (which in fairness is the majority of my buying most of the time). Heading into December of year 4, maybe it's time to retire this thread. Let's see how I feel on January 2, 2024!

Today adds 2 more low serial Garvey's, both shown as a Padre.

I sometimes wonder if these have even been counterfeited? This one just looks too new. I can't really read his name either. The black on blue background just doesn't work well. They aren't expensive, so it's not a real money maker if they were.

What card is that Garvey insert?
How many different versions are they?
Honestly, I don’t even pay attention to the set names these days. It is a Topps Chrome product, but not sure which exact one.

Same goes for parallels. Since I started failing to win a large enough percentage of new Garveys, I stopped worrying about tracking and getting them all. I used to make a list each time a new set rolled out, with all the possible cards I needed to look for. Now I just try to keep in straight in my head and buy what I can that shows up. This backfires sometimes and I end up with dupes, but that has never bothered me and I often tried to win multiples. Not as much now, but won’t cry if I end up with two /25 of the same card.

I'd like to see a post of your 4 favorite autos of the 1973-81 Dodgers infield of Garvey, Lopes, Russell, Cey
Do you mean together or separate? The together signature choices are fairly limited. Balls, prints and a couple photos of the 4 of them. Of course, I have lots of Garvey, less of the other 3. I'd have to think about that one.

I need to stop bidding on these, assuming the seller has more still. He started them at $9.99 for 2. I think this is the 4th pair I have won. I don't need 8 of these...WTH?

Today was a pretty good Dodger mail day!

I didn't expect to even win this. I bid an amount I was sure would be eclipsed. I think this is the cheapest Archives Thome Dodger card I have ever won. Not by a ton, but still nice to set the bar lower than before. Had thome never made his trip to LA, I would have had 1-2 autos for the HOF factor and nothing more, as I never really followed/collected the guy.

This is /18. Thome 18.jpg

Not certified, but looked good to me. This was a BIN that I just could not pass up, despite the fact I do not need another Hodges auto!

Gil Hodges on a 1959 Dodgers program. Looks like it would make a fairly decent cut for a custom or something else. The program is a bit brittle and there isn't much in the way of content inside to speak of otherwise. I won't do anything with it, but I know it's there if I become more active in making custom cut cards someday. Too bad it was also signed by Don Demeter so close to Gil.Hodges.pngs-l1600.png
