Update:

We need everyone to pay by the end of this weekend at the absolute latest. If you cannot pay for your slots by then, they will be offered up to anyone who wants them and can pay.

Once all the slots are paid for, I'm asking a 3rd party (non-participating) to do a Random.org run on the 185 spots.

They will post a screen shot of the results in this thread.

The live draft will be Tuesday night at 9:30PM Eastern Time. This draft will take place over FCB Chat or AIM. I will be on both, and hopefully we can get everyone in the FCB chat, but AIM will work as well.

If you cannot be there for the draft, you must submit a pre-ranked list for your draft.

Once the draft is complete, I will begin busting the case.

Per the FCB Rules, I will video tape the break and post the feed to youtube after every 1-3 boxes (simply depending on how fast I can break them and how many will fit into the video), so that it will be semi-live.

I will also scan the major hits from each box and post them in the thread.

All cards will be mailed out by next week.

I am bringing a new idea for you all to enjoy for a group case break.

First of all, this break has been approved by both box break mods. We will be breaking a case of my favorite product of 2008, Bowman Draft. And just as a note, I will have everything shipped out to people within three days of the end of the break. I really appreciate when people get the stuff sorted and sent within a couple days of the break, so I figured I would return the favor and do the same for you all. Also, the break will be recorded and posted on youtube, and scans of the hits from every box will also be provided.

Anyway, this is where my break gets interesting…

Instead of doing a team break, this will be a PLAYER break. And instead of buying specific players for an amount proportionate to their current perceived value, every player would cost the same amount (awesome, right?). After enough slots are sold at a small, affordable price, instead of randomly assigning teams like other breaks, I will do a random drawing for a draft order. A draft will then be held, with the participants of the break being able to select whatever player they want from the checklist when it is their turn to pick (as long as that player has not already been drafted), and then they will get whatever cards of that player are pulled from the case.

So when you buy a slot in this break, you are not buying a player (although you will inevitably get one of your own choosing, whether good or bad), you are buying a DRAFT PICK. The players you get are to be determined during the draft.

The draft will go on over a 72 hour time period, to keep it reasonable. You can make your picks whenever you get on FCB and it is your turn, or you can send a pre-ranking draft list to me so I can keep the draft moving as quickly as possible.

The fun and attraction comes in with the potential to get great players at a far lower price than normal. Hypothetically, you could buy 3 slots, and be lucky enough with the draft order to get the first three picks, which would allow you to pick whatever three players you want, and therefore get a case-worth of three top-notch players for a fraction of what the cards you could get in the break are worth. One thing I like about this type of break is that you are actually drafting the player whose cards you want. Too many times have I seen people cough up 40 bucks for a team break only to draw a team that they are unsatisfied with. The idea of this break is to eliminate as much of the dissatisfaction as possible and get people the best value for them personally for their money.

People interested in participating may purchase however many slots you want. There are 184 possible total draft pick slots, as there are 188 different cards on the checklist including autos, prospects, Future’s Game, and RC Logo cards. We will need to fill about 100 draft pick slots to cover. If there are enough extra slots filled, we will have some sort of fun bonus drawing.

***Note: Most players that appear on the checklist in more than one section are considered ONE player and can only be drafted ONE time. Longoria, Kershaw, Volstad, Balester have RC Logo autos and base. A person who drafts one of these players will get all base and autos that are pulled of them. Jesus Montero, on the other hand, will have two separate slots, one for the auto card and one for the chrome base card.

The AFALC Autos will go with any player on the checklist. For example, if a Porcello AFLAC is pulled, the person who drafts rick porcello will get the aflac. I will also include a slot for AFLAC Autos of players that aren't on the base checklist that can be "drafted" by someone. This will include players that aren't on the chrome checklist like Jason Heyward.

The prices per draft pick slot (includes price of case, price of supplies, price of shipping, etc.) are as follows:

$7 per if you get 1-4 slots
$6 per if you get 5-9 slots
$5 per if you get 10+

1 slot--$7
2 slots--$14
3 slots--$21
4 slots--$28

5 slots--$30
6 slots--$36
7 slots--$42
8 slots--$48
9 slots--$54

10 slots--$50
11 slots--$55
12 slots--$60
13 slots--$65
14 slots--$70
15 slots--$75

At just $7 per slot, imagine buying two slots and then be able to draft Buster Posey and Gordon Beckham and get a case-worth of their cards…for just $14!

there are 184 spots but you know as well as I do that not all of those are going to be good or valuable players.

But if people want 184 spots, they are available. And first of all, the price covers price of case, supplies, shipping, etc. I'm figuring we need about 100 slots to sell to come close to covering all those prices.

Like I said in my original post, if more slots sell than we need to cover costs, then we will use any extra money on some fun giveaways to repay you all for participating and making the break a success. But as of right now, I don't know how many slots people will sell, so for now we have to charge current prices to make sure that if we do not sell 184 slots, we can still cover costs.

Re: SIGNUPS OPEN- SPECIAL: 2008 Bowman Chrome Draft Group Break

First... I doubt you will be able to fill 100 spots... the 2nd Razor Letterman case break has been open for 2 weeks and last I looked 38 slots were still available.

Second... Say you do fill this and only 100 slots are filled. What happens to the other 84 players that are left over? Do you keep them?? Just sit on basically a half case of cards for free and hope someone does something someday??

A case is what.?? $750ish?? If you sell 140 slots thats roughly $1350. If you figure $2.50 to ship each slot.... you are looking at $1100 to cover shipping and case.... I doubt you would need $250 in supplies.

I think that just about everyone on this board will agree that Bowman Draft > Razor Letterman. By a lot.

It depends how many slots are sold, but EVERY card that does not go to someone in the draft will be given away to someone in the break. Not sure exactly how this will work, because it depends how many slots are sold.

But for the third time, I'm not in thie for personal gain. Any more questions, please feel free to ask, but I wouldn't be mod approved if my goal was personal gain.

Not sure if this will fill, but sign me up for 10 spots. You can place me randomly however you want on the list (mainly cause I don't remember what numbers Andrew just picked). ;)

It is people like you who see the potential and order 10 slots that will make this break happen. I'll put you on the list.

Also, I will be dropping the price per slot down to $10 so more people will hopefully be able to participate for more slots.

Let's get this filled up and get it going!

I'm in for 10 spots, however you're still $2 higher per slot than our original agreement.

Re: SIGNUPS OPEN- SPECIAL: 2008 Bowman Chrome Draft Group Break

Price per slot is $10 for now, if we get enough people to buy in, it will drop to $9 or lower, but it will not go higher than $10.

If all 184 slots sell, then the price will be dropped to around $6 per slot.

I'd sign up, but if you sell 184 slots at $10 you're making $1840. Even after shipping and supplies you're still getting like double the price of the case. What happens if not all the slots are sold? Who get's the cards? If all 184 slots are sold do we end up owing you less?

If all 184 slots are sold, the price will be dropped to something like 6 bucks per slot. For now, I don't know if it is reasonable to expect all 184 to sell out since this is the first break of this format on this board...so I have to assume we will sell about 100 slots.

If all 184 slots are not sold, the extra cards of undrafted players will be given away to the break participants. I think it will be a random giveaway format, but everyone will likely get something extra from it if that's the case.

It's a win-win situation for you all. You either fill the whole thing and get a sizable discount, or you get free stuff after the break if it does not fill up.

If there are any more questions, please ask.

Re: SIGNUPS OPEN- SPECIAL: 2008 Bowman Chrome Draft Group Break

Even at $6 a piece that is $1104. A case of '07 BCDP can be had for $725 shipped. That's $380. The break board is turning into a profit churning machine for some members of this board. I've added up and broke down the cost of some of the members group case breaks and it getting kind of ridiculous. I would post my finds ,but I don't want to stir up any trouble. Why are people paying others to break and sort their cards?

I have been in two breaks so far (one from Mox and one from Andrew)
No complaints as far as how they were run

On one hand, I do however agree with what you said about -- why are others paying others to break cards for them? Isn't that the thrill of collecting? Why not just buy a box for self? I understand that some boxes might be double the price of a break slot.
On other hand, watching thse livestream breaks get addicting :)

AKA -- on side note, just so that we know where you stand, BDP case giveaway or not on other site?

No complaints as far as how they were run - No question they do a great job with the group breaks. I just think the markup may need to be looked into.

Re: SIGNUPS OPEN- SPECIAL: 2008 Bowman Chrome Draft Group Break

Stop posting in this thread if you aren't interested in buying some draft slots or have a legitimate question.

The break is for people who are interested in a fun group case break, where people can get the individual players they want for a pretty fair price. An opportunity like this has not come about on these boards yet, and I thought that those interested in 1) a certain player or players from this product would enjoy the chance at some of said player's cards (and the possibility of a nice parallel) or 2) people who enjoy group case breaks and taking a little gamble on what you might get. In this break, you have more control over what you get than in random team breaks.

It's an inexpensive alternative for busting wax, and you still have the shot at paying less than 10 dollars and getting lucky and hitting a hundred dollar card. It's for fun, nothing else. If you have a problem with that, then you don't have to participate!

If you're not interested, fine. You don't have to be, just don't post in this thread questioning this break.

I have continuously stated that this is not some sort of money making scheme. ALL cards will go to the participants of the break, there will be price cuts as we get to the point where everything is paid for, and if there is money left over in the end, it will go toward some extra prize or giveaway. I don't understand where the problem with the pricing is coming from.

If you have a problem, PM me about it. Otherwise, I hope you all will consider joining this break.

Re: SIGNUPS OPEN- SPECIAL: 2008 Bowman Chrome Draft Group Break

Actually, what do you all think is a fair price for this break? Some of you seem to have a problem with a measly little $10 per draft pick (if not better with one of the specials). Keep in mind that you have to pay for a case, shipping plus shipping supplies, card supplies (basically just toploaders for the nicer cards, as I will just use what I have already for team bags and penny sleeves), plus 3% for paypal fees.

I'm serious here, how are you guys even arguing about this pricing? If we can sell enough slots to more than cover everything, the price per slot will be discounted further.
